As a Data Scientist, you will define metric goals, create dashboards for stakeholders, manage data pipelines, and optimize data solutions.

Lean In was founded by Sheryl Sandberg to inspire and equip women to lead. What began as a bestselling book has grown into the largest community dedicated to advancing women's leadership - more than 150,000 Circles in 183 countries. And the impact is real: women in Circles are nearly twice as likely to be promoted compared to the general population. We also lead Women in the Workplace, the largest study on the state of women in corporate America, which shapes how organizations - and the world - understand where women stand at work.

But progress is still too slow. Today, only 93 women are promoted to manager for every 100 men - and just 74 women of color. Women earn 59% of college degrees, yet hold only 29% of C-suite roles. At the current pace, parity is still nearly 50 years away. And instead of accelerating, corporate commitment is starting to stall.

This is where you come in.

We're building a reimagined LeanIn.org - a platform designed to reach millions of women with the support, tools, and community they need to grow their careers. You'll shape how hundreds of thousands of women experience Lean In - and how they move forward.

We are looking for a Data Scientist who is able to:

- Set and track metric goals for our team

- Create dashboards and visualizations that make insights accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

- Build and maintain reliable data pipelines (data engineering experience preferred)

- Design and optimize data infrastructure solutions

- Work across the full data stack - from raw data ingestion to reporting and storytelling

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
