Fetch is an equal employment opportunity employer.

Fetch is at a pivotal moment in leveraging data to drive product innovation and business growth. With over $100B in item-level purchase data from millions of monthly active users, Fetch offers a uniquely rich environment for Data Scientists to transform complex consumer behavior into actionable insights that shape product decisions, user experiences, and growth strategies.

We are seeking a Data Scientist to support and scale Fetch’s data-driven decision-making across Product, Marketing, and Business teams. This role goes beyond traditional reporting and analytics - you will design experiments, develop analytical models, and partner cross-functionally to influence product iteration and strategy. As a Data Scientist, you will build strong analytical foundations while growing toward more advanced modeling, experimentation, and production-level data science.

Within your first year, you will own analytics and experimentation for key product or business areas, contribute to predictive modeling initiatives, and help establish clear metrics and measurement frameworks that guide product development and growth decisions.

What You’ll Do

Analytics & Modeling
  • Analyze large, complex datasets to uncover insights into user behavior, product performance, and growth opportunities.
  • Build and evaluate predictive models (e.g., engagement, conversion, retention) to support product and marketing initiatives.
  • Apply statistical techniques and experimentation methods to answer product and business questions with rigor.
  • Partner with senior data scientists to iterate on modeling approaches and analytical methodologies.
Experimentation & Business Impact
  • Design, analyze, and interpret A/B tests and experiments, including hypothesis formulation, metric definition, and result interpretation.
  • Quantify the impact of product features, experiments, and marketing initiatives, translating findings into clear recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain metrics that track product health, user engagement, and growth performance.
  • Support measurement strategies for new product launches and feature iterations.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Marketing stakeholders to align analytics with business goals.
  • Communicate analytical findings through clear narratives, visualizations, and documentation.
  • Contribute to a strong data culture by sharing insights, methodologies, and best practices across the team.
  • Learn from and collaborate with senior team members through code reviews, analysis feedback, and mentorship.
Technical Foundations
  • Write high-quality SQL and Python to analyze data and build scalable analytical solutions.
  • Work with data platforms and tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Spark, and AWS to access and model data.
  • Ensure analytical accuracy, reproducibility, and documentation in all work.
  • Follow best practices in data validation, experimentation hygiene, and version control.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related quantitative role.
Strong foundation in statistics, experimentation, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience using Python for analysis or modeling.
  • Experience working with large datasets in modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake or similar).
  • Ability to clearly communicate analytical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting A/B testing or experimentation platforms.
  • Exposure to predictive modeling or machine learning techniques.
  • Familiarity with dbt, Airflow, Spark, or cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Experience working in product-driven or consumer-facing technology environments.
  • Interest in developing toward advanced modeling, causal inference, and production-level data science.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
