The opportunity
Altruist is in the midst of an exceptional growth phase and we’re excited to hire a Data Science Intern for Summer 2026 to join our growing team. In our 10 week internship program at our Culver City office, you’ll have the chance to make a meaningful impact in the financial advice industry by working on real projects from ideation to execution that directly shape our products and user experience.
Your impact
- Build and refine statistical and machine learning models to enhance revenue forecasting and business planning.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to support GTM strategy, including funnel diagnostics, segmentation, and growth opportunity sizing.
- Leverage data science methods to support product analytics, such as feature impact analysis, usage behavior clustering, and churn modeling.
- Work with large datasets using Python and SQL for data processing, feature engineering, and model development.
- Translate analytical insights into actionable recommendations and communicate them clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Develop a deep understanding of the business, industry, codebase, and technical systems.
- Contribute to the innovation and continuous improvement of Altruist’s platform.
What you bring
- Experience - Must have completed at least 1 previous Data Science Internship, preferably in the startup and/or FinTech space.
- Experienced in statistics, statistical modeling, and optimization, with hands-on work in data processing, building machine learning models using Python, and working with databases using SQL.
- Education - Currently enrolled in an M.S. or Ph.D. program in statistics, engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related quantitative field (math, physics, etc.).
- Technical aptitude - You’re technologically savvy and can easily get up to speed on modern tech stacks.

This internship role is based in Altruist’s Culver City or San Francisco office on a hybrid schedule, in office Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Altruist’s compensation and benefits are subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Total compensation includes a competitive benefits package along with equity in the form of Stock Options (ISOs) for eligible roles. For salaried positions, a salary offer will be determined by a number of factors including experience, skill level, internal pay equity, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations. Base salaries will be reviewed at regular intervals throughout the year, typically in conjunction with performance review cycles.
