Job Summary:

Socure is the leading provider of digital identity verification and fraud prevention solutions, leveraging AI and machine learning to power the most accurate identity trust decisions. Our mission is to eliminate identity fraud and ensure online trust across industries.

We are seeking a Data Science Intern to join our Digital Intelligence team for Summer 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for students passionate about data science, machine learning, and AI to gain hands-on experience working with cutting-edge technologies and real-world datasets in a fast-growing, mission-driven company.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside data scientists and engineers to develop and optimize methods for fraud detection and device recognition.

  • Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights, detect patterns, and drive data-driven decision-making.

  • Develop and evaluate features derived from browser, app, and IP-based activity for device recognition and fraud detection. 

  • Assist in the research and implementation of new machine learning algorithms and techniques.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and analytics, to support business objectives.

  • Develop data visualizations and reports to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • Experience working with large datasets and knowledge of data cleaning, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.

  • Strong Python programming skills; familiarity with Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, or other scalable data processing tools.

  • Familiarity with ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively.

  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in fraud detection, anomaly detection, or adversarial machine learning.

  • Knowledge of ML techniques for high-cardinality features (e.g., frequency encoding, embeddings, target encoding).

  • Understanding of IP address behavior, device/browser data, or network-based feature engineering.
