Job Position: Data/Report Engineer
(California, US-based)
We are looking for a Data/Reporting Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong curiosity for data, an eye for detail, and a passion for turning raw data into meaningful insights. You will work closely with senior engineers and analysts to support data collection, processing, and visualization efforts across our streaming and advertising platforms.
You’ll work with data stored in AWS S3 and databases, transform it into meaningful metrics, and present it through Kibana, Grafana, and other reporting tools.
This position will be on-site with our client, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and will report directly to the client regarding the project.
Job Requirements:
- 1–2 years of experience (internship or full-time) in data engineering, BI, or software engineering preferred.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, join, and aggregate data for reports and dashboards.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and visualizations in tools like Kibana, Grafana, or similar.
- Work with data from AWS S3, relational databases, and APIs to prepare it for reporting.
- Partner with business stakeholders to define metrics and KPIs for streaming and advertising performance.
- Automate recurring reporting tasks and ensure dashboards are kept up to date.
- Document datasets, queries, and dashboards for knowledge sharing.
- Support ad-hoc analysis needs across business, product, and operations teams.
- Programming experience in Python, C#, or JavaScript for data processing and automation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to have:
- Experience creating streaming or advertising performance reports (e.g., video starts, rebuffering ratio, ad impressions, completion rates, fill rate, CPM).
- Exposure to streaming analytics platforms (Conviva, Datazoom, Mux, etc.).
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT workflows or data pipeline tools.
- Knowledge of additional AWS services (Athena, Lambda, Glue, Redshift).
- Experience working with large datasets and time-series data.
Job Work Set up:
- Onsite (Office Location: Culver City, CA) - Mondays to Thursdays / Remote - Fridays
- 40 work hours/week
- Full-Time Position with Benefits - Includes Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage through HMO.
- Note: This position does not include Paid Time Off (PTO) or 401(k) benefits.
