Vineskills is an implementation partner for a case and document management platform called Filevine. As a Data Migration Engineer at Vineskills, you will lead and execute complex data and document migrations from legacy casement systems into Filevine.
This role requires hands-on experience conducting full lifecycle data migrations from client discovery and data assessment through ETL development, validation, and post-migration support. You will work directly with clients and their live data, serving as both a technical expert and a trusted advisor throughout the migration process.

Location: This position is open to U.S.-based candidates only at this time.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead end-to-end, non-recurring data and document migrations from legacy case management systems into Filevine.
  • Partner directly with clients to assess source systems, define migration strategy, and set clear expectations.
  • Design and build SQL queries and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load structured data.
  • Develop and document detailed data mappings between source databases and Filevine.
  • Cleanse, normalize, and validate data to ensure accuracy and integrity before and after migration.
  • Contribute to internal best practices, tooling improvements, and code reviews.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their data structures and migration needs.
  • Plan, scope, and execute data migrations from legacy systems into Filevine.
  • Develop and optimize SQL scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
  • Perform data mapping, cleansing, and validation to ensure data accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve migration-related issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Conduct post-migration testing and quality assurance.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of migration processes, issues, and resolutions.
  • Provide support and training to clients and internal teams on data migration best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills:
  • Filevine Data Migration Engineer Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex database structures.
  • Familiarity with APIs and integrations.
  • Proficiency in SQL (T-SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).
  • Experience with ETL processes and tools such as SSIS, CloverDX, or custom scripting.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills for data-related issues.
  • Understanding of data security best practices.

Preferred (Bonus) Skills:

  • Prior experience in legal case management or CRM data migrations.
  • Mid-level Python skills
  • Experience with cloud storage solutions (AWS S3, Google Cloud, or similar).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control systems (Git, GitLab).
  • CJIS certification (or willingness to obtain for working with sensitive government legal data)
