Are you a seasoned data leader with a passion for strategy, innovation, and team empowerment? Do you excel in transforming raw data into strategic assets that drive business outcomes? We’re seeking a visionary Data Platform Lead to spearhead our efforts in making data a strategic force for our clients and accelerating our impact across industries.

ABOUT SAND

Sand Technologies is a fast-growing enterprise AI company that solves real-world problems for large blue-chip companies and governments worldwide.

We’re pioneers of meaningful AI: our solutions go far beyond chatbots. We are using data and AI to solve the world’s biggest issues in telecommunications, sustainable water management, energy, healthcare, climate change, smart cities, and other areas that have a real impact on the world. For example, our AI systems help to manage the water supply for the entire city of London. We created the AI algorithms that enabled the 7th largest telecommunications company in the world to plan its network in 300 cities in record time. And we built a digital healthcare system that enables 30m people in a country to get world-class healthcare despite a shortage of doctors.

We specialise in Enterprise AI solutions and digital twins that address CAPEX and OPEX challenges in asset-heavy industries, empower organisations to harness data as a strategic asset, and provide unmatched strategic delivery capacity. Data management underpins much of our success, and we’re looking for a dynamic leader to scale this capability.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Data Platform Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our data management strategy, growing our internal and client-facing data platforms, and delivering scalable solutions. You will lead a talented team of data engineers and analysts while defining frameworks and accelerators that establish us as leaders in the field.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
