Job Description:

J&J MedTech Electrophysiology (JJMT EP) is recruiting for a Data Governance and Stewardship Lead. This position is located in Irvine, CA and will work on a hybrid schedule, within the office 2 - 3 days a week.

The Data Governance and Stewardship Lead will support the development, operationalization, and validation of a data governance framework that maps data usage and access restrictions to internal data inventory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and operationalize data usage policies, access controls, and data stewardship requirements across data inventory assets.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve data governance programs, policies, and controls to ensure high-quality and compliant data access.
  • Design and Develop automation workflows that apply data access and usage policies to governed data holdings.
  • Collaborate with business teams to embed data usage policies, standards, and controls across the enterprise data and technology landscape
  • Support trade studies and technical evaluations related to data governance tooling, operational models, and scalable governance implementation.
  • Support maintenance of business glossary, data integration, data lineage, and broader data management activities.
  • Partner with multi-functional teams to detail data sources, ownership, permitted uses, usage restrictions, and access requirements.
  • Enable governed access to preclinical, clinical, and commercial data assets to support patient safety, product development, and operational decision-making.
  • Co-lead the implementation of audit workflows to verify and validate data governance implementation.
  • Co-lead the development of performance metrics to measure data utilization, compliance, data quality, and governance effectiveness.
  • Support continuous improvement of governance practices, including issue identification, remediation tracking, and process optimization.
  • Present regularly to internal and external partners on the status, risks, progress, and impact of data engineering and governance tasks.
  • Coach more junior colleagues on governance processes, techniques, responsibilities, and operating expectations.
  • Understand and apply Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team members and collaborators.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in data science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • At Least 3 years experience within data governance in a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with data governance technologies used to support stewardship, data quality, lineage, and access management
  • Experience using cloud technologies to build, optimize, and govern data platforms, pipelines, and analytics environments.
  • Ability to collaborate with business, technical, and compliance team members to translate governance requirements into scalable operational processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to multi-functional customers.
Preferred:
  • Experience in MedTech, healthcare, life sciences, clinical research, medical safety, quality, regulatory, or product development environments.
  • Familiarity with clinical, preclinical, post-market surveillance, electrophysiology, IDE, commercial, or product lifecycle data assets.
  • Experience implementing data governance frameworks in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
  • Experience supporting audit workflows, validation and verification mechanisms, governance metrics, or compliance monitoring processes.
  • Familiarity with data catalog, metadata management, data quality, access management, workflow automation, dashboarding, or analytics platforms.
  • Ability to partner with IT and data engineering teams to implement governance workflows in enterprise data platforms or cloud-enabled analytics ecosystems.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML, digital health, or sophisticated analytics use cases through strong data governance, data quality, and data access controls.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$79,000.00 - $127,650.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
