The Investment Data Solutions Manager, VP will be a part of our technology Model Risk Governance team, helping design, implement and monitor software for Analytics and Portfolio Managers. You will work closely with the business and other team members as a senior player to develop efficient solutions and support others in understanding and solving complex problems. These projects will leverage elements of our internal software development frameworks, open source technologies, big data, cloud and traditional databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business units to understand their current data usage, needs, and challenges in the context of investment performance.

  • Align business data requirements with available data sources and delivery mechanisms to support investment decision-making.

  • Facilitate cross-business awareness of available data content to promote transparency and collaboration.

  • Identify and eliminate duplication of data sources to streamline data management.

  • Evaluate and recommend the highest quality data sources for business use.

  • Lead the design of strategic data solutions that address business needs and improve data accessibility and sharing.

  • Collaborate closely with IT, data engineering, and other technology teams to ensure successful delivery and implementation of data solutions.

  • Ensure data solutions comply with governance standards and support business objectives.

  • Monitor and report on data usage, quality, and cost efficiency.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to data management and utilization.

Position Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in business data management, data governance, or related roles, demonstrating senior-level expertise.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills with a proven ability to design and implement effective data solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic solution design and collaborating with technology teams to deliver complex data solutions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence and work effectively with diverse business and technical stakeholders.

  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to assess data quality, usability, and integration challenges.

  • Proven track record in identifying and resolving data duplication and streamlining data management processes.

  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, compliance requirements, and best practices.

  • Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving change.

  • Proficiency with data management tools, platforms, and technologies is highly desirable.

  • Experience in the asset management or financial services industry is a strong advantage.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in business data management, data governance, or related fields, with demonstrated leadership in strategic data initiatives.

  • 5+ years of professional experience working in the investment management domain

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent. A higher degree in Computer Science or engineering is desirable.

  • Exposure to finance (degree/CFA/work experience)

  • Strong OOP skills with hands on experience in Python required

  • Intermediate SQL/Database Query experience required 

  • Strong analytical ability to learn independently from the code / reverse engineer

  • Ability to work well independently and in cross-functional teams

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience of working with AXIOMA Optimization Software, equity data sets like BARRA/ITG and understanding of the equity data/models is a plus

  • Snowflake/AWS exposure is preferred

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.


Salary Range: $ 175,000.00 - $ 240,000.00
