Behind Avra's Foundation AI sits a critical layer: a data platform that ingests, structures, and operationalizes messy, real-world data into reliable inputs for our models and products.
As a Data Engineer, you will help build and evolve Avra’s data platform — the system that transforms messy, real-world SMB data into structured, usable datasets.
This is a hands-on role focused on learning by doing in production. You will work alongside senior engineers to implement pipelines, improve workflows, and make systems more reliable over time. You won’t be expected to have all the answers. But you are expected to be curious, to go deep into problems, and to develop strong judgment by working on real systems that matter. Over time, you will take ownership of increasingly critical parts of the platform.

ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain data pipelines. Implement pipelines that ingest and process data from APIs, files, and external systems.
Contribute to orchestration workflows. Work with tools like Dagster (or similar) to build and maintain data workflows.
Support data modeling efforts. Help structure datasets and transformation layers to improve usability and consistency.
Work with real-world data issues. Investigate data inconsistencies, handle schema changes, and debug pipeline failures.
Improve reliability over time. Add monitoring, logging, and checks to make systems more observable and stable.
Collaborate with the team. Work closely with senior engineers and other teams to understand problems and implement solutions.
You have experience working with data pipelines or backend systems
You are comfortable writing Python for data processing or automation
You have solid SQL skills and understand basic data modeling concepts
You are curious about how systems work in production and want to understand failures
You are comfortable asking questions and digging deeper into problems
You prefer simple, clear solutions over unnecessary complexity
Experience with tools like dbt, Airflow, Dagster, or cloud platforms is a plus
