WHY JOIN ALO?
Mindful movement. It’s at the core of why we do what we do at ALO—it’s our calling. Because mindful movement in the studio leads to better living. It changes who yogis are off the mat, making their lives and their communities better. That’s the real meaning of studio-to-street: taking the consciousness from practice on the mat and putting it into practice in life.
We are seeking a Data Engineer to support the growth and maintenance of ALO's data ecosystem. You will take part in designing, building, and scaling our data infrastructure to support best-in-class analytics, business intelligence, and machine learning initiatives. This is a hands-on role where you will not only write code but also have the opportunity to make strategic decisions that impact how ALO uses data. You will work at the intersection of our digital platforms, retail operations, and marketing channels, building the systems that turn raw data into actionable insights. Your work will directly influence everything from our supply chain optimization to the personalized wellness content we offer in our app.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and fault-tolerant data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to ingest data from a wide array of sources, including our e-commerce platform, retail POS systems, marketing analytics tools, and third-party APIs.
- Monitor and optimize our central data warehouse, creating logical and physical data models that are efficient, intuitive, and support the needs of our data analysts and scientists.
- Facilitate rigorous data quality checks, validation processes, and monitoring systems to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of our data. Troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies and pipeline failures.
- Partner closely with data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand their data needs. Build foundational data models and reporting toolkits that empower them to answer complex questions and drive business strategy.
- Continuously evaluate and improve our data architecture and technology stack. Research and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance our data processing and analytics capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a data engineering role, with a proven track record of designing and delivering complex data projects.
- Experience in a fast-paced e-commerce or direct-to-consumer retail environment is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and pipeline development.
- Deep experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift).
- Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Dagster) and data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
- Familiarity with modern data stack technologies for ingestion (e.g., Fivetran, Stitch), transformation (e.g., dbt), and business intelligence (e.g., Looker, Tableau).
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, database design, and data architecture principles. You can think strategically about building systems that will scale with the business.
- You are passionate about translating business requirements into technical solutions and can communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- You seek to operate in a team-oriented environment and enjoy partnering with others to solve challenging problems.
