About the role

We are hiring a Data Engineer to play a crucial role in our mission to establish a world-class Data Engineering team within the Center for Data and Insights (CDI) and make a lasting impact on our data-centric aspirations as we aim for new heights. You will help grow our data engineering capabilities in the AWS and GCP ecosystems by collaborating with the data team and implementing several projects across data architecture, data lake infrastructure, and job orchestration. You will ensure the consistency and reliability of data and insights, aligning with our objective of promoting well-informed decision-making.

You will demonstrate an empathetic and service-oriented approach, promoting a successful data and insights culture while enhancing and safeguarding our data infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to build our data engineering platforms globally.   • Collaborate with the data team by prioritizing a service-oriented approach and quick response times.
  • Observe high data quality standards, measurement certification methods, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience building scalable, resilient, and observable distributed systems processes.
  • Master the different data tools, clouds (AWS, GCP), and data engineering practices in the CDI ecosystem.
  • Improve reporting workflows and efficiency, harnessing the power of automation whenever possible.
  • Enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of storage and compute layers of the data lake.

In the role of Data Engineer, you will report to the Senior Director of Data Engineering.

We are considering applicants for the locations of San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Dallas.

About You

We get excited about candidates, like you, because...

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or software development.
  • Experience with programming languages like Python, Spark, and SQL.
  • Comfortable using BI tools like Tableau, Looker, or Superset
  • Experience managing large-scale data sets, handling Terabytes of data and billions of records (across structured and unstructured datasets)
  • Experience implementing job orchestrations using tools like Databricks, Airflow, Talend, and others.
  • Good experience using GCP services like Google Storage, Looker, Google Analytics, and so on
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub action, or similar)
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
