As a Data Engineer II at Zoro, you will take on more advanced responsibilities in developing, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines and systems that support the company’s business intelligence and analytics initiatives. You will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure efficient data flow and reliable access to Zoro’s data, contributing to the design and implementation of scalable data solutions. This role is ideal for someone with a few years of experience in data engineering who is looking to expand their skills and take on more complex projects.
You will play a critical role in growing and optimizing our operational and analytical data warehouse, supporting projects that contribute to business intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making. Your technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and proactive approach will be essential as you work on translating data into valuable insights and ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our data systems.
Duties and Responsibilities- Data Pipeline Development: Assist in building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines to ensure efficient data flow from various sources to our data warehouse and other data storage solutions.
- Data Integration: Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate data from multiple sources, including internal systems, third-party APIs, and external datasets, ensuring data consistency and integrity.
- Data Modeling: Support the design and implementation of data models that facilitate efficient querying and reporting.
- Performance Tuning: Learn and apply best practices for optimizing query performance and data processing workflows.
- Data Governance: Contribute to upholding best practices for data management, including data security, privacy, and compliance.
- Documentation: Assist in creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation of data processes, pipelines, and architecture.
- Learning & Development: Engage in continuous learning, actively seeking opportunities to grow your technical skills and understanding of data engineering principles.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data engineering, software development, or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Programming Proficiency: experience of software craftsmanship, SQL, and proficient in multiple programming languages
- Data Modeling: experience of data modeling and data architecture
- Cloud Platforms: experience of cloud infrastructure
- Data Pipelines: experience of batch and streaming data pipelines
- Data Quality & Testing: experience with data quality assurance techniques, including data validation and testing methodologies
- Data Microservices: Entry level experience in building data focused microservices
- Problem-Solving: Ability to approach problems systematically, breaking down complex issues into manageable tasks.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage their assigned work items.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Proven ability to form collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organization.
- Curiosity: A genuine curiosity about data and a proactive approach to exploring new tools and techniques.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to work, ensuring data quality and accuracy.
