The Role:

The Data Editor plays a central role in transforming the firm’s proprietary data into engaging and insightful content. This role will work with the Vice President, Global Editorial Director; the Senior Manager, Editorial Research; and key senior consultants to develop data assets (most often infographics and interactive presentations) for use on the firm’s website, in presentations, and private client distribution. The Data Editor will have a strong ability to understand data and how to, craft clear and impactful messages with it. They must be a skilled communicator, committed to high quality standards, able to manage multiple stakeholders, and focused on delivering results. This role will also offer significant opportunities for independent projects in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing new content from the firm’s existing data resources, including finding complementary insights in different data sets, in alignment with the firm’s content priorities.
  • Developing standalone infographics or other primarily data-driven assets.
  • Creating supporting data assets to enhance existing reports.
  • Developing interactive presentations for longitudinal data sets, including those on a range of CEO and Board topics, private equity compensation, and CISO and AI officer organization and compensation.
  • Refining and developing ideas suggested by consultants or other members of the Editorial team and suggesting topics independently.
  • Working closely with other members of the Editorial team and senior consultants to define new research questions.
  • Identify gaps in our knowledge and new questions to explore; play a role in refining longitudinal studies and planning future new research projects.
  • Innovating the firm’s use of data in static and interactive formats to connect with clients and the broader market.
  • Recommending how to balance our current reliance on PDFs for most of our data-driven thought leadership with digital-first presentations.
  • Ensuring the formats and technologies the firm uses to present data-driven thought leadership content are current.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience developing data-driven stories.
  • Experience interpreting data.
  • Expertise in both static and interactive data presentations
  • Solid content writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of global business and leadership trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Intellectually curious, creative, and keen to learn about the business.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Responsive and client service-focused.
  • Able to work across multiple time zones as needed.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with consultants or other subject matter experts a plus.
  • Ability to use Displayr, Flourish, and Ceros a plus.

Pay Range Guidelines for this Position:

The salary range for this position is 110000 USD to 120000 USD. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience and skills. In addition to your salary, Heidrick & Struggles offers discretionary bonuses (subject to eligibility requirements) and a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, disability leave, parental leave, paid time off and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Note: we have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
