For Those Who Work At Home - Various, Alabama 35201The Data Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable data architectures to support analytics, reporting, and operational needs. This role ensures the integrity, performance, and security of data systems while aligning data strategies with business goals. The Data Architect collaborates closely with engineering, analytics, and product teams to build and manage structured and unstructured data environments, with a focus on cloud-native solutions such as Google BigQuery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain robust, scalable data architectures across cloud and hybrid environments.
- Develop and optimize data models, schemas, and pipelines for structured and semi-structured data.
- Manage data warehousing solutions with a focus on Google BigQuery, ensuring performance and cost-efficiency.
- Define data governance standards, security policies, and access controls.
- Oversee the development of ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration workflows.
- Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to support reporting, analytics, and machine learning use cases.
- Ensure high data quality through validation frameworks and data profiling.
- Select and implement tools and frameworks for data cataloging, lineage, and metadata management.
- Lead data architecture reviews, troubleshoot system issues, and provide technical guidance.
- Stay current with evolving technologies and recommend improvements to the data stack.
Requirements: - 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles.
- Strong expertise in relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, BigQuery, Firestore).
- Deep knowledge of Google BigQuery, including table partitioning, clustering, and query optimization.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages such as Python.
- Experience with modern ETL/ELT tools and orchestration platforms (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Dataform).
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Experience designing data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts.
- Ability to work across teams and communicate complex data architecture concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD practices, and agile methodologies.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $71,000 to $122,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
