About Brilliant

We are a female-founded, bootstrapped and profitable company on a mission to provide the best corporate gifting experience in the world! From the curation and production of memorable branded merchandise to the distribution of custom products, our team works together to bring brands to life. Think: newsworthy press kits, welcome gifts for new hires, merch sets to promote a product launch, or simply giveaways that people love.

We help companies create personalized experiences—campaigns, new-hire kits, storefronts, event swag—through a unified tech platform, global fulfillment (180+ countries, 6 warehouses), and hands-on creative collaboration brilliantmade.com.

Why This Role Matters

Brilliant is looking for a hands-on, experienced Data Analyst to join our profitable, bootstrapped, and fast-growing team. We deliver the best corporate gifting experiences in the world through white-glove service, product expertise, in-house fulfillment, and a proprietary technology platform.

This is not a role where you’ll just churn out reports — we need someone who can dig in, figure things out, and build from the ground up. You’ll be the person everyone turns to for insights, reporting, and dashboards, and you’ll help connect the dots between data and action. If you thrive working independently, love rolling up your sleeves, and have the curiosity to chase down answers, you’ll feel right at home here.

Key Responsibilities
  • Get into the data: Use SQL, BI tools, Python, and spreadsheets to analyze, interpret, and surface insights that move the business forward.
  • Own dashboards: Build, maintain, and improve company-wide reporting systems (Metabase, dbt, Looker, etc.).
  • Make complexity simple: Partner with engineers to decode complex data structures and turn them into clear, usable reporting.
  • Be the go-to analyst: Work directly with leaders across teams to understand their questions and deliver analysis they can act on.
  • Build for scale: Create self-serve tools so anyone in the company can pull what they need without waiting on you.
  • Tell the story: Share insights in ways that make data meaningful and help drive smarter decisions.
  • Fix what’s broken: Spot issues with accuracy, usability, or process and make improvements without waiting to be asked.

What You Bring
  • 4+ years of experience in a data analyst or business analyst role.
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort working with large, messy datasets.
  • Expert spreadsheet chops (Excel/Google Sheets) — you know how to automate, model, and make them sing.
  • Experience owning BI tools (Metabase, Tableau, Looker, or similar).
  • Previous exposure to businesses with physical goods, fulfillment, or warehouse data.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Data Science, Business, Economics, etc.) or equivalent experience.

Who You Are
  • A self-starter who doesn’t need hand-holding — you see problems, dig in, and figure them out.
  • Comfortable being a team of one but able to collaborate well across teams.
  • Practical and resourceful — you don’t just find data, you make it useful.
  • Highly skilled with spreadsheets and loves teaching others and building clever workarounds.
  • Skilled at juggling multiple requests, keeping projects moving, and knowing how to prioritize.
  • A natural storyteller with data who can make insights click for leaders and teams.
  • Excited to roll up your sleeves at a high-growth, bootstrapped company where every contribution has impact.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
