Who we are

In the past, to be a successful restaurateur, you simply had to have a passion for food and a passion for people - but to succeed as a digital restaurateur you also need to have a passion for technology. We believe in the joy of serving others, and that's why we created Otter – to help restaurateurs succeed in online food delivery. Restaurants around the world, both large and small, including Chick-fil-A, Ben & Jerry’s, KFC, and Eataly, trust our software to power their delivery business. We increase sales, reduce order issues, and decrease delivery headaches.

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. Based in Los Angeles, you'll work with a global technology company, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making. In this role, you will bridge the gap between data and business, ensuring that data is accessible, reliable, and actionable. You will also conduct deep dives to uncover the fundamental levers driving key KPIs and provide strategic recommendations to guide business decisions.

What you’ll do

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to translate complex business needs into actionable data solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications to ensure data solutions are aligned with company objectives.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to define track KPIs, providing ongoing monitoring and updates to stakeholders.
  • Assist in designing, executing, and analyzing A/B tests and experiments to inform decision-making and optimize processes or products
  • Implement, test, and maintain ETL processes and data integration workflows.

What we’re looking for

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Analytics, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics or a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data modeling.
  • Python, R, or other programming skills for data manipulation.
  • Business acumen – ability to understand business processes and translate them into technical data solutions.
  • Experience with Google Sheets.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical rigor.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with modern data stack tools such as dbt, Airflow, or other orchestration and ETL/ELT tools.
  • Knowledge of SQL engines/data warehouses such as  Presto, Trino, Snowflake or Redshift.

Why join us

  • Demand for online food delivery is growing really fast! In the last 5 years, just in the US, the overall market has expanded 10X from $10B to $100B, and could expand to $500bn- $1T by 2030.
  • Changing the restaurant industry: You’ll be part of a team that helps restaurants succeed in online food delivery.
  • Collaborative environment: You will receive support and guidance from experienced colleagues and managers, helping you to learn, grow and achieve your goals, and you’ll work closely with other teams to ensure our customer’s success.

What else you need to know

This role is based in our Los Angeles office. As a company driven by innovation and continuous change, close collaboration is essential. We’re constantly reimagining our industry, creating new products, and refining our processes, and we do our best work together. That’s why all of our office-based teams work onsite, five days a week.

Ready to join us as we serve those who serve others?

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
