About the role:
This role is critical to advancing Stord's billing initiatives, with a focus on identifying upstream data accuracy issues, uncovering root operational and systemic causes, and measuring audit performance. Serving as a key liaison between the Finance/Billing and Product/Engineering teams, this position keeps billing logic aligned with evolving rate card structures, WMS activity, and client requirements.
As Stord continues to scale, this role will build scalable, interim automation flows to support acquisitions and billing integration efforts — providing a bridge while long-term S1B platform development catches up. The work spans troubleshooting data discrepancies, configuring and maintaining rate cards, resolving system bugs and gaps, and partnering closely with operations to understand and correct manual data-entry issues. Strong SQL and data warehouse knowledge, along with high proficiency in Excel, are essential to driving accuracy and continuous improvement across Stord's billing systems.

What You’ll Do:

Billing Logic Development & Maintenance:

  • Using workflow automation tools to implement and refine billing logic to handle various rate card structures.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to upstream data quality shortfalls resulting in billing charge discrepancies

Issue Identification & Resolution:

  • Identify and document bugs, gaps, and feature requests related to the billing system.

  • Collaborate with the Product and Engineering teams to prioritize and implement system improvements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Act as a liaison between the Finance/Billing team and the Product/Engineering team.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand billing requirements and provide updates on system performance.

  • Work closely with operations team on understanding of how manual data entries are made in the system and corresponding issues that are cause by different reasons.

  • Work with various different teams on improving Unit of Measure ('UoM') for SKUs across Stord network.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2+ years experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, System Administrator, Billing Associate or similar analytical role, preferably within e-commerce, logistics, or supply chain.

  • Strong with billing processes and financial reporting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to draw meaningful conclusions. Ideally with experience in SQL, JSON Data Structures, BI tools, and other analytical tools. Strong Excel skills are a must.

  • Problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. Someone who can analyze data, articulate their findings and create an action plan to drive improvements.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
