About Trellis

Trellis is rewriting the insurance experience from the inside out. We’re the tech company behind Savvy, our licensed insurance agency, and we’re bringing clarity and ease to a space known for… the opposite. With powerful tools, clean design, and a customer-first mindset, we’re making insurance shopping refreshingly effortless.

We’re a profitable, fast-growing Series A startup backed by General Catalyst, QED, NYCA, and Amex Ventures. As a remote-first team, we move quickly, experiment boldly, and build with intention.

If you’re craving meaningful impact, energized by ambiguity, and are ready to build alongside exceptional teammates, you’re going to love doing your best work at Trellis.

Position Overview

At Trellis, our Consumer Operations team is the heartbeat of the business. It’s a team of licensed insurance agents helping real people, in real time, find coverage. Every call, text, and quote directly impacts revenue. Right now, the data powering those decisions lags behind reality. We're hiring a Data Analyst, Agency to change that.

This role sits at the intersection of business reality and data truth. You'll transform messy operational data into clarity, then translate that clarity into decisions that improve agent efficiency, revenue, and overall business health.

This is a fully remote position, based in the US or Canada, and will report directly into Keith Schreer, VP of Data.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with Consumer Operations leadership to define the metrics we use to run the business

  • Investigate unexpected performance changes, uncover root causes, and recommend our response — not just surface symptoms

  • Build and maintain dashboards, alerts, and monitoring systems that surface issues before they become crises

  • Connect disparate data sources into a unified, trustworthy picture

  • Translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights for non-technical leaders

  • Help shift the organization from reactive to proactive through better data

Who You Are

This isn't a "build a dashboard and move on" role. You're someone who:

  • Doesn't trust a number until you've interrogated it

  • Spots when something feels "off" before anyone else does

  • Follows the thread from metric → behavior → outcome

  • Thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and turns chaos into clarity

  • Gets energy from being close to how a business actually runs — and from seeing your work directly shape revenue

What You Bring
  • 3–5 years of analytics experience in a fast-paced or startup environment

  • Strong, hands-on SQL skills and fluency with analytics tools like Looker, dbt, or Tableau

  • Proven track record of delivering insights that change how a business operates

  • Experience building proactive monitoring systems and investigating performance trends

  • Strong cross-functional communication — you can make data make sense for anyone

If you get energy from being close to the action and seeing your work directly shape outcomes, we'd love to meet you.

Why Trellis? Because you deserve a career that’s exciting, meaningful, and surrounded by people who lift you up.

We’re a group of curious, mission-driven humans rewriting the insurance experience and having a lot of fun along the way. At Trellis, you’ll make a real impact on a product millions rely on, and grow alongside a company that’s scaling fast.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
