As the engineering expert supporting the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Architect in the area of space spectrum engineering you will provide expert advice about radio frequency related aspects of space and ground systems architecting and acquisition.
Works independently with both internal Space Systems Command and other, external customers, providing them technical support. Serves as a technical authority, primary investigator, and a senior project leader. Will lead and organize project teams while interfacing between customers and Aerospace technical and management staff. Will mentor less experienced staff and serve as role model.
What You'll Be Doing
- Serve as embedded Aerospace technical leader for the Space Systems Command (SSC) Spectrum Management Office
- Integrate talent from across Aerospace's engineering group in projects that answer key customer questions on spectrum use characterization, spectrum sharing, and spectrum management and regulations
- Provide expert technical and regulatory review of Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments of SSC programs
- Provide technical advice for Electromagnetic Protection and Electromagnetic Spectrum Superiority issues
- Lead spectrum related analysis and modeling, including radio interference analysis and radio propagation loss modeling
- Lead efforts to evolve modeling and simulation capabilities for optimizing and improving the utilization of spectrum
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in science, mathematics, or engineering
- 12 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: radio communication systems analysis, space vehicles, payloads, and/or ground systems
- Demonstrated record of successfully leading technical teams and mentoring junior team members.
- Understanding of RF utilization in space.
- This position requires a current and active DOD/Secret security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
How You Can Stand Out

- Masters or Ph.D. from an accredited program in science, mathematics, or engineering
- A current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
- Detailed knowledge of spectrum management and associated regulations.
- Awareness of larger spectrum community trends and key customers/stakeholders.
- Proven and dynamic team leader who can cross organizational boundaries to inspire multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality capability on time and within budget.
