Project Introduction

9th Way Insignia will work with the Veterans Administration (VA) to support the governance pillar in creating, implementing, and providing support for the necessary requirements and outcomes of the Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) assessments. 9th Way Insignia will provide iterative updates for pillar use cases while accounting for a risk based and dependency-based priority of capabilities. A Zero Trust Analyst has IT experience with Cyber Security Policy and threat mitigation. The role requires familiarity with Cyber Security Tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, and secured networks, as well as experience in implementing cyber security regulations and ZTA.

The Cybersecurity Analyst specializing in Zero Trust Architecture will play a pivotal role in fortifying the security of the federal agency’s digital assets and information systems. By implementing Zero Trust principles, the engineer will minimize the risk of data breaches, improve threat detection capabilities, and ensure that only authorized individuals have access to critical resources. This role not only enhances security posture but also contributes to the overall resilience of the agency in a landscape of ever-evolving cyber threats. The engineer will bring a proactive, forward-thinking approach to security, ensuring compliance with federal mandates while future-proofing the agency’s cybersecurity framework.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a customer-facing liaison for the Zero Trust Program, building trust with system owners and stakeholders.
  • Engage directly with system owners to gather technical and process information.
  • Translate Zero Trust requirements into actionable steps tailored to each system’s environment.
  • Develop and maintain intake forms, meeting schedules, follow-ups, and progress trackers.
  • Ensure that baselines, BGAs, and implementation plans reflect real customer input, not solely tool-driven analysis.
  • Support creation of implementation packages by feeding validated customer data into deliverables.
  • Soft Skills
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on reducing security risks.
    • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, highly regulated government environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of cybersecurity, IT security operations, or system analysis experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and customer-facing skills.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust concepts across identity, device, network, application, and data pillars.
  • Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools such as ServiceNow or Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) preferred.
Salary Range
$48,678$69,738 USD
