Introduction

Systrends delivers market-leading regulatory compliance software to the U.S. energy industry. Our core products enable the preparation and transmission of regulatory filings to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Today, hundreds of the nation’s largest energy companies—including grid operators, utilities, pipelines, and law practices—trust our suite of solutions to perform mission-critical FERC reporting.

With that said, we're only just getting started. With upcoming regulatory catalysts and long-term tailwinds pushing for modernization in energy data standards, we are strategically positioned to leverage our strong relationships and trusted reputation to become the leading provider of energy compliance software. To help us do so, we are looking for a proactive and thoughtful Customer Success Manager (CSM) to serve as a trusted partner to the CFO's office within large utilities and pipelines.

As a Customer Success Manager, you will lead enterprise clients' adoption, retention, and growth of our financial forms reporting solution. Working proactively across support, sales, and product, you will strengthen product adoption, improve customer satisfaction, and ensure customers derive maximum value from and achieve desired outcomes with Systrends. This is not a reactive support role—it’s a strategic position focused on building and nurturing long-term customer relationships.

This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-critical software company at a moment of reinvention, where your voice will be heard and your work will shape how we grow. If you are customer-obsessed, detail-oriented, and deeply motivated by helping customers succeed, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities
  • Build trusted relationships with decision makers and frontline users across the CFO organization within large utilities and pipelines

  • Serve as the primary point of contact across sales, onboarding, training, renewal, and expansion

  • Lead the onboarding process for new clients, guiding users through implementation

  • Conduct training workshops and develop education content for clients to enhance their understanding of our products and services

  • Develop and execute strategies to monitor customer health, improve customer satisfaction, mitigate churn, and identify expansion opportunities

  • Provide support for renewal activities, leading customer QBRs and success planning

  • Serve as internal customer advocate, channeling feedback into the product roadmap

  • Define, document, track, and measure the impact of Systrends on the client organization

  • Connect our customers to their peers to create a supportive and collaborative environment within the community

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, product, and engineering to solve complex client challenges

  • Stay up-to-date with regulations, trends, and developments in the energy industry

  • Use industry knowledge to provide clients with insights and advice on navigating regulatory challenges and best practices

Who You Are

You are a thoughtful, organized relationship-builder who thrives at the intersection of technical problem-solving and customer empathy. You listen closely, anticipate needs, and deliver consistently. You can zoom in to handle detailed onboarding tasks and zoom out to influence strategic account health. Above all, you genuinely care about the customer’s experience and are always looking for ways to make it better.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree

  • Customer-facing experience (customer service, program management, consulting, or sales), preferably familiar with Customer Success in a SaaS company

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment

  • Proven ability to be a self-starter capable of driving business results without significant supervision

  • An enthusiastic “roll up your sleeves” mentality

  • Strong understanding of regulatory affairs and compliance within the energy sector

  • Exception verbal and written communication skills

  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously

  • Considerable interpersonal skills, including establishing yourself as a trusted advisor in your working relationships with clients

  • Experience successfully collaborating and managing by influence (of non-reporting groups/individuals)

Location & Travel

This role is hybrid in Tempe, AZ. You will be expected to spend roughly 40% of the time in the office. This strikes a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration, while supporting flexibility in a way that makes sense for our team. Ability to travel 10% of the time.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
