CTO - Data & Analytics

Lead technology for insightsoftware's $150M Data & Analytics business unit as we capture the massive agentic AI opportunity while dominating embedded analytics. You'll architect AI-native platforms that solve the $104B enterprise data access problem, rationalize our acquired product portfolio into an integrated powerhouse, and build the technical infrastructure that can power intelligent experiences across insightsoftware's 34,000+ customers. 

This is scale with startup energy. You'll operate as the senior technology leader with direct board and PE investor engagement, partner with world-class product and GTM teams, and lead globally distributed engineering across North America, Europe, India, and China. WHAT YOU'LL OWN 

Portfolio Strategy & Platform Consolidation 

• Drive rationalization of our acquired platforms (Logi, Simba, Exago, Izenda, VizLib, FiPlana, PowerON, Cubeware, Agility, and more) into an integrated architecture that maximizes customer value and engineering velocity 

• Design elegant migration strategies that protect our substantial revenue base while accelerating customers to modern AI-powered solutions 

• Make bold architectural decisions that reduce complexity, unlock innovation capacity, and position us to win in embedded analytics and agentic AI markets 

AI Architecture & Innovation Leadership   

• Own business unit-wide AI strategy that makes Data & Analytics a leader in AI-powered data platforms—both what we deliver to customers AND how we use AI internally to accelerate engineering, product development, and operations 

• Architect Simba Intelligence as the production-grade AI data access layer that gives agents secure, governed, hallucination-free access to enterprise data across on-prem and cloud environments 

• Expand AI capabilities for Logi Symphony that catapult embedded analytics into intelligent decision engines that learn, predict, and guide users 

• Expand and scale our current use of AI in development workflows—using ML for code generation, testing, security scanning, and operational intelligence to multiply engineering productivity 

• Position our "Switzerland of AI" differentiation: trusted enterprise data access that enables amazing AI experiences without competing with SaaS analytics tools 

Global Engineering Organization & Culture 

• Build and optimize engineering teams across multiple continents and time zones, creating clarity on structure, accountability, and how we win together 

• Oversee VP of Engineering and partner with VP of Product Management to define operating models that balance strategic thinking with execution velocity 

• Develop the next generation of technical leaders who can architect solutions, lead teams, and drive business outcomes 

• Establish an AI-first engineering culture where teams use cutting-edge tools, ship with confidence, and are proud of what they build 

Platform Modernization & Technical Excellence 

• Modernize platforms to cloud-native architectures while maintaining the on-premises and air-gapped capabilities that win us deals in regulated industries—compliance is our competitive advantage 

• Define technical roadmaps that balance innovation, operational excellence, and smart trade-offs aligned to where markets are heading 

• Build for global scale supporting ISVs across technology/software, financial services, healthcare, pharma, manufacturing, oil & gas, and business services 

• Enable EMEA expansion where data sovereignty and GDPR compliance accelerate rather than slow us down 

Executive & Board Partnership 

• Present technology strategy and progress directly to PE investors and board members—you're the technical voice shaping business direction 

• Serve as technical advisor to CEO and business unit leadership on strategic decisions 

• Translate technical capabilities into competitive differentiation and business outcomes that drive ARR, retention, and market position 

YEAR 1 SUCCESS METRICS 

• Ship portfolio rationalization with clear integration roadmap that the business rallies behind 

• Rapidly expand our existing AI capabilities that further the Data & Analytics business unit as an innovation leader in embedded analytics and agentic data access 

• Deliver internal AI productivity gains showing measurable impact on engineering velocity and code quality 

• Optimize engineering organization with improved delivery cadence and team engagement 

• Earn PE and board credibility through strategic presentations connecting technology to business outcomes 

• Enable sales wins with technical differentiation in on-prem deployments for regulated industries 
 

• 15+ years technology leadership with 8+ as CTO/VP Engineering leading 100+ person organizations 

• Scaled platforms from $50M+ to $200M+ revenue with measurable business impact 

• Led platform modernization for enterprise software—you've transformed what's already running at scale 

• Built and led global engineering teams across North America, Europe, and Asia with strong retention 

• Engineering degree or equivalent technical depth—you engage credibly with senior engineers and architects 

• Track record using AI to transform internal operations, not just building AI products 

 
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 

• Expert in SaaS architecture, cloud-native design, microservices, and platform engineering at scale 

• Deep understanding of data infrastructure: connectivity protocols, semantic layers, data virtualization, modern data stack 

• Experience with embedded analytics, BI tools, and ISV application integration patterns 

• Knowledge of AI/ML systems: GenAI analytics, RAG, LLM applications, agentic AI architectures 

• Expertise in enterprise deployment models: on-premises, cloud, hybrid, air-gapped for regulated industries 

• Understanding of AI-augmented development: ML-powered coding tools, automated testing, intelligent DevOps 

• Hands-on with modern practices: CI/CD, security, observability, developer experience

• Oversees VP of Engineering and partners with VP of Product Management   

• Remote (US-based preferred) 

• 10-25% travel for board meetings, customer engagement, team collaboration 

• Leads global engineering and architecture across North America, Europe, India, China
