How You’ll Add Value
The CSS Specialist will be required to travel to client sites or other Azenta locations. They are responsible for performing all aspects of sample management at these sites. This may include basic laboratory tasks, movement of equipment, routine freezer maintenance, and stocking of supplies. Additional job specifics will be outlined for each client/location based upon contracted services. If necessary, the CSS Specialist may become a designated trainer to help in onboarding and training of new staff.
What You’ll Do
Perform all functions methodically and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Adhere to FDA Good Practices (GMP, GTP, GLP, GDP), International Organization of Standards (ISO),
College of American Pathologists (CAP) standards and other regulatory requirements as outlined in SOPs.
Follow all safety requirements for working with infectious and non-infectious biological materials,
radioactive materials, chemical compounds, and drug products.
Understand the scope of the project and support execution of on-site implementation project plan from beginning to end as instructed. Handle materials in a manner that maintains required temperatures (+30oC to -196oC) per the project definition and SOPs. Utilize assigned inventory tracking tool, Azenta’s Limfinity inventory management system, or client inventory management system for all sample handling tasks. Ensure chain of custody and audit trails for all activities are proactively maintained. Help the client and scientists manage inventory of consumables and supplies. May be responsible for aliquoting, DNA extraction, media prep, manifesting, registration, inbound/outbound shipments, discards, as well as freezer maintenance, validation, and calibration. Facilitate the creation of client specific SOP’s, Project Definitions, and other customer documents. Proactively manage and drive the resolution of client issues while promoting continuous process improvement. Assist in developing, implementing, validating, and testing of new processes and equipment.
Initiate communication with the customer contacts to maintain and cultivate relationships and gather intelligence about their needs. Train staff as needed. Travel as needed to support the business.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree + 1 year demonstrated proficiency in a sample management related position.
- OR Associate Degree + 2 years demonstrated proficiency in a sample management related position.
- OR HS Diploma + 4 years demonstrated proficiency in a sample management related position.
- Previous experience handling biological specimens.
- Customer Service background.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and email.
- Life Sciences Degree, preferred.
- GMP/GTP/CLIA Experience, preferred.
- Willingness to travel for months at a time if needed.
- Willingness to travel on short, sometimes less than 3 days, notice.

Physical Requirements
- Reaching, lifting, bending.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Extended periods of standing or sitting.
- Right- and left-hand finger dexterity.
- Ability to discern colors or use of color correction glasses.
- Ability to work with refrigerants (e.g., dry ice and LNs) using proper PPE.
Your Working Conditions:
- Employee will be working in an area with potentially infectious materials.
- Employee will be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment and enforce and follow Universal Precautions for bloodborne pathogens when working in an area considered to be potentially contaminated.
- Travel, including international travel, is required.
- Employee will be working at a client site and is expected to remain professional and courteous while maintaining all Azenta and the client’s expectations.
- The CSS Specialist will work at an Azenta facility when not on assignment at a customer facility.

United States Base Compensation: $22.00 - $28.00The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure.
