The Crop Division of Great American has been helping generations of farmers take control of their risks since 1915. The D​ivision is also one of a select few private companies authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency (USDA RMA) to write MPCI policies. Great American's Crop Division is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic, and dynamic individual to join our team as a Training Specialist.  The ideal candidate will bring 5-10 years of experience as an underwriter in crop insurance as well as an enthusiasm and passion for teaching and learning.  No previous training experience is required.  This position is fully remote but will require travel up to 50%. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, design, implement, and maintain comprehensive training programs and resources for internal employees and agents

  • Deliver engaging interactive training sessions both in-person and virtually

  • Provide technical training and support for agents, growers, and employees

  • Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of our training programs

  • Seek feedback and make continuous improvements to coursework

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, internal stakeholders, and external partners to ensure training meets business objectives and compliance standards

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth

  • Travel up to 50% to deliver training sessions, attend industry conferences, and meet with stakeholders across different regions

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Generally, 5-10 years crop insurance underwriting experience

  • Strong knowledge of federal crop insurance programs, underwriting guidelines, and compliance requirements

  • Continuous improvement mindset with a passion for learning and growing

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Driven self-starter with the motivation to achieve a set goals and objectives

  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information to a variety of audiences

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment and independently with minimal supervision

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, CoPilot) and other relevant software, including Canva and PDF tools.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

$75,000.00 -$95,000.00

Compensation varies by role, position level, and location. Individual pay is influenced by skills, education, training, certifications, experience, and the role's scope and complexity, along with business needs.
