Job Description

Purpose of the role

To manage and optimise the bank's overall credit risk exposure by monitoring, analysing, and reporting on the creditworthiness of its lending portfolio.

Accountabilities

  • Monitoring the financial performance and risk profile of the entire lending portfolio, including individual borrowers, sectors, and geographic regions.
  • Analysis of credit trends, identify early warning signs of potential borrowers' issues, and assess the impact of economic and market developments on the portfolio.
  • Development and utilisation of quantitative models and risk forecasting tools to measure and predict potential credit losses.
  • Performance of portfolio stress testing exercises to assess the impact of various economic and market scenarios on the portfolio's risk profile.
  • Definition and setting of portfolio, segment and customer risk appetite, policy and limits. Overseeing first line execution within these parameters.

  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Credit Risk Manager in New York, NY (multiple positions available):

  • Produce analysis and commentary on the bank’s counterparty risk profile.

  • Liaise with Sales and Trading to understand the risk on derivative and financing transactions.

  • Live risking of derivative and securities financing transactions across products.

  • Portfolio risk management of counterparty risk exposures for the bank.

  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of counterparty risk.

  • Ad hoc portfolio risk analysis of emergent market and macroeconomic events and how they affect the bank’s counterparty risk profile.

  • Contribution to the continuous improvement of risk systems and tools.

  • Presentation of analysis and results to senior management.

  • Ensure the appropriate model governance and control environment is in place and maintained.

  • Engage and escalate appropriate issues to local Senior Risk Management.

  • Work with Front Office, notably Sales, Trading and Banking to understand the risk on derivative and financing transactions.

  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

  • May telecommute.

Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $195,069 per year

Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $214,576 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

This position is eligible for incentives pursuant to Barclays Employee Referral Program.
