Creative Lead, Design
We’re looking for a Creative Lead - Design who can set the tone for what brand design and creative development looks like at AllTrails. This role is equal parts maker and mentor: someone who executes creative with impeccable craft and insight, while also inspiring and elevating the team around them. You’ll lead by example—producing best-in-class brand creative and campaigns that resonate strongly with our audience, all while building a team culture of creativity and meticulous execution.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Act as a Creative Leader on the Brand Design team, setting an example, continually raising the bar while generating original and highly crafted creative that is grounded in thoughtful insights
- Concept and execute global integrated campaigns across various channels and surfaces including digital, social, lifecycle, OOH, film, experiential, and in-product
- Lead the creation of new evergreen brand assets, including stylistic elements, illustration, photography, video, motion, and audio
- Partner with Design Leadership to push the continual development and evolution of the AllTrails visual brand, defining how we show up in the world at scale
- Work in collaboration with Creative Leadership, marketing leads, and cross-functional stakeholders to create campaigns that build love for the AllTrails brand and product
- Make design decisions confidently and quickly, ensuring they are based on a deep understanding of the project's goals, audience insight, and business context
- Lead design exercises, workshops, and drive internal alignment on principles and ideas that elevate brand design at AllTrails
- Think deeply about and research business problems to develop core creative ideas that translate into successful executions
- Foster a respectful and collaborative environment that cultivates a culture of creativity
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience leading global brand campaigns, in either an agency or in-house studio setting, preferably for a SasS company, app, or digital product
- Experience leading projects in a senior creative role such as a Design Lead, Art Director, or Senior Designer
- Extensive experience concepting and designing compelling creative across multiple mediums, formats, environments, and surfaces
- Flawless execution of the core fundamentals of visual design, including typography, layout, color, form, and composition
- Outstanding portfolio demonstrating highly crafted design work and demonstrated success in building unique and interesting creative that resonates deeply with audiences
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate and sell creative decisions, as well as manage feedback from stakeholders
- Exceptional conceptual and brainstorming skills, with a preference for a blue-sky, out-of-the-box approach to idea generation
- Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to self-edit, iterate, test ideas, and bring constructive feedback to work across the creative team
- Extensive experience collaborating with copywriters, designers, and marketing strategists to develop campaigns and brand storytelling
- Experience at a fast-paced remote-first company where autonomy and proactiveness are key contributors to success
- High taste level, and a deep knowledge of the current and historic creative landscape, with a solid understanding of design trends and culture
- A deep knowledge of Figma, Adobe CC, and other creative platforms and tools
- Strong grasp of design systems and how to deploy flawless creative at scale
- Empathy for the customer and for individuals on a creative team
- AI Native: You naturally incorporate AI tools to enhance your work. You’re comfortable writing prompts, evaluating AI outputs, and enjoy experimenting with new ways to boost creativity, productivity, and decision-making
Nice to Have:
- Experience with no-code design tools like Framer or Webflow
- Passion for the outdoors or deep interest in outdoor culture
