Responsibilities

As Workato continues to scale, we’re building a bold, developer-facing brand that reflects the power of our platform, the passion of our users, and the transformational mission we’re on. We’re looking for a Creative Director to lead this effort—from vision to execution—establishing a trusted, inspiring, and deeply human brand experience for developers, builders, integrators, and automation professionals.

This is a rare opportunity to define how a next-generation AI and automation platform shows up for developers — visually, verbally, and experientially.

Brand Strategy & Creative Direction

  • Lead the development of Workato’s developer brand—voice, tone, identity, and experience—from the ground up.

  • Build a brand platform that communicates who we are, what we stand for, and why it matters to developers, from first impression to daily use.

  • Direct high-impact creative for campaigns, product launches, and community storytelling.

  • Create scalable, intentional systems that bring consistency and clarity across all developer touchpoints.

Developer Community Engagement

  • Shape a distinct, developer-first brand that speaks to technical audiences with authenticity and depth.

  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to develop programs that attract and retain developers.

  • Launch and scale community-driven initiatives, including a developer ambassador program.

  • Oversee creative content tailored to developers—tutorials, blog posts, videos, docs, and more.

Creative Leadership & Team Building

  • Hire, mentor, and lead a world-class, multidisciplinary team of designers.

  • Foster a creative culture grounded in curiosity, excellence, and collaboration.

  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure brand consistency across product, marketing, and developer experiences.

Own Workato’s developer‑brand guidelines across web, video, events, and social

  • Lead hands-on development for creative assets, launches, keynotes, and community swag.

  • Act as brand guardian—ensuring authenticity and resonance with builders.

  • Coordinate with corporate marketing to harmonize identities and share best practices.

RequirementsQualifications / Experience / Technical Skills
  • 10+ years of experience in brand and creative leadership, with a strong portfolio that combines storytelling, systems thinking, and business impact.

  • Fearless, playful creativity.

  • Hands-on design skills. This is a hands-on ECD role, not just a strategist.

  • Deep experience building and scaling brands at high-growth companies—ideally in B2B SaaS, developer platforms, or automation.

Soft Skills / Personal Characteristics
  • Strong foundation in design, messaging, and user experience.

  • A vision-first mindset with the ability to connect creativity to business strategy.

  • Proven leadership ability and collaborative instincts across cross-functional teams.

  • Thrives in rapid‑iteration, on‑site environment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
