The Creative Director will lead Huckleberry's brand expression, overseeing visual identity and storytelling through strategic campaigns while collaborating across functions to support business goals.
About Huckleberry
At Huckleberry, our purpose is simple yet powerful: to build life-changing products and experiences that help all families unlock everyday magic.
Today, more than 5 million families trust Huckleberry and our app to be their partner through parenthood. Real pediatric expertise works hand-in-hand with data science, AI, and behavioral science to provide support behind-the-scenes that guides every parent through their unique journey.
We believe every family should feel taken care of—which is why we’re growing quickly and expanding our product offerings to help every family thrive.
About the Role
We are looking for a Creative Director to serve as both the strategic architect and a hands-on builder of Huckleberry’s brand expression. As we scale, we need a creative leader who bridges the gap between high-level business objectives—like growth, conversion, and retention—and emotive, world-class storytelling.
In this role, you will translate our brand strategy into a cohesive visual identity and narrative. You will define how Huckleberry looks, speaks, and feels, ensuring our creative output is both aesthetically world-class and engineered to perform. You understand that great design serves a business purpose. You will partner closely with the Marketing team, turning their creative briefs and positioning into high-converting creative campaigns and growth assets that build deep trust with parents.
Areas of Responsibility
- Strategic Brand Ownership: Act as the ultimate steward of Huckleberry’s visual and narrative identity. Ensure our brand strategy is consistently expressed across all external touchpoints.
- Creative Vision & Storytelling: Lead the conceptual development of brand-led marketing campaigns. Translate marketing objectives into compelling visual stories that build trust and emotional resonance.
- Brand Refresh Leadership: Architect and oversee the evolution of our brand identity. You will define the North Star for Huckleberry’s future look and feel, guiding the team through its implementation.
- Creative Direction & Mentorship: Provide high-level direction to the Senior Designer and external partners. Review work not just for aesthetic quality, but for strategic alignment with our brand mission.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate directly with Brand Marketing, Product, and Executive leadership to ensure the brand vision supports business goals and product innovation.
- External Representation: Own how the brand is perceived externally, ensuring our ethos is felt in every campaign, partnership, and piece of content.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional design and creative experience, with at least 4+ years in a creative leadership or art direction role.
- Proven track record of strategic brand building at a high-growth tech company, mobile app, or consumer-facing brand.
- A portfolio that shines with storytelling. You should demonstrate an ability to build comprehensive brand systems and lead multi-channel campaigns that move the needle.
- Strategic Mindset: You don't just "make things look good"—you understand how design drives business results and user trust.
- Exceptional Communication: Ability to articulate creative decisions to non-creative stakeholders and inspire the team around a shared vision.
- Expertise in Brand Architecture: Deep understanding of how to evolve a brand identity in a way that remains scalable and culturally relevant.
- Collaborative Spirit: Experience working in a fast-paced, remote startup environment where cross-functional alignment is key to success.
