THE ROLE

We're searching for self-starters, makers, and creative visionaries to lead groundbreaking marketing with a mission to spread joy. We're seeking a Creative Content Director with expertise in developing short-form video content based on trends.

The ideal candidate is a social-first Creative Content Director deeply obsessed with culture and storytelling. You should be passionate about and experienced with innovative digital platforms such as TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts. As a player-coach, you'll focus on creating and leading social content that engages in real-time cultural dialogue. Our clients rely on us to distinguish them on both traditional and cutting-edge platforms, propelling you to craft the marketing techniques of the future.

As the Creative Content Director, you'll develop, execute, and oversee disruptive social-first content with an emphasis on short-form video—humor is a plus! You'll collaborate with the Content Strategy Director to create powerful strategies that resonate with target audiences. You'll also work closely with the account management team to understand client goals and ensure content aligns with their needs. Leadership, mentorship, and a background in copywriting or production are highly valued.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive social-first creative content development, with a focus on short-form video, that captivates audiences and pushes creative boundaries
  • Partner with the Content Strategy Director to craft impactful content strategies that resonate with target audiences
  • Manage and mentor a skilled team of creators, makers, videographers, copywriters across brand channels, guiding and producing work, fostering creativity, giving feedback, and overseeing bandwidth
  • Collaborate with the account management team to align content with clients' objectives and brand guidelines
  • Stay current on emerging social media trends, tools, and platforms to elevate our creative offerings
  • Foster agency-wide innovation and excellence through thought leadership and creative direction

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Located in the Los Angeles, CA area. Though we are a remote company, we would like to have this role operating in the LA area to be on-site when needed with the content team.
  • Experience creating and overseeing content, scripting, production, and editing for short-form video for TikTok, Reels and/or YouTube Shorts shown in portfolio
  • 8+ years of experience in social media marketing, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong leadership, project management, and client-facing skills
  • Proven success in developing, overseeing, and executing social-first content strategies
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and guiding a team of content creators
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in presenting to senior leadership
  • Passion for and experience with short form video and other social storytelling formats
  • Ability to adapt priorities, meet deadlines, and excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Connected to culture, knowledgeable about Zillennials' social habits, and enthusiastic about the industry
  • Expertise in creating campaigns considering algorithms across multiple social media platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

BASE SALARY RANGE

Our estimated range for this role is $160,000-180,000*

*Don’t let this range drive your decision to apply. Actual compensation packages are based on the level of skill and experience each candidate brings to their role. Similarly, there might also be a more senior or junior position available, that would be a better fit with your expertise. For example, a person may apply for a Senior Creative Producer role, and we may assess that their skills are at the Creative Producer level. Each level has its own compensation range.

At Movers+Shakers, we pride ourselves on competitive salaries, and we work hard to ensure there is pay equity across the company. We welcome open and honest conversations about compensation in all of our initial calls. We look forward to meeting you!

We look forward to hearing from you! 🎵💃

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
