The Corporate Regulatory Practice Group is an active and fast-paced team within the Global Sustainability, AFC and Corporate Regulatory Unit. The Unit is staffed by attorneys with broad responsibilities to provide legal support to several business and functional areas of MetLife.

The position is in the Global Sustainability, AFC, Corporate Regulatory Unit of Legal Affairs. The attorney in this position will be responsible for handling a broad range of insurance, corporate transactional and regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities:
- Handling corporate and transactional regulatory matters including financial and risk reporting; state insurance holding company law compliance; insurance-related corporate, financing, capital management and M&A transactions; corporate governance; corporate structure optimization; and regulatory engagement.
- Associated activities concern captives and their financings; foreign reinsurance subsidiaries; transactions among affiliated MetLife companies; enterprise support arrangements; shared services and facilities business model; actuarial matters; and legislative and regulatory matters.
- Other responsibilities include leading the annual filing workstreams for the group, advising on regulatory questions and associated risks and presenting training.
- Support practice group leads in larger enterprise projects (such as filings in the M&A context).
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Hold a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to the New York State (or other appropriate) bar.
- Have at least 4 years of legal experience, including strategic matter management and engagement with financial service regulators.
- Exhibit crisp, clear oral and written communication skills; demonstrates the ability to reduce legal issues to straightforward practical analysis and advice.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, writing and facilitation skills. Build relationships at all levels of the organization, including the ability to resolve issues and seek consensus among diverse groups of stakeholders.
- Demonstrate strength in strategic thinking, identifying key business issues and opportunities, creating business strategies, and driving results across diverse internal teams and/or external partners.
