Role Summary

Renew Home is seeking a commercial Counsel to join our growing legal team! We're looking for a dynamic and business-minded lawyer to provide sound, practical, and actionable legal advice in support of our mission.

What You Will Do

Primary Focus

  • Serve as counsel in preparing, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements, with a focus on SaaS, services, and procurement agreements.
  • Support commercial contracts, partnerships including with regulated electric utilities, and transactions that support consumer energy solutions.
  • Identify potential legal and business risks in contracts and develop approaches to mitigate them.

Generalist Responsibilities

  • Work dynamically across the traditional in-house portfolio with minimal supervision.
  • Provide legal review and business-focused legal advice across all departments and functions.
  • Address broader strategic issues and matters of first impression.

Reporting & Collaboration

  • Act as a key member of the company’s legal team and report to CLO.
  • Work closely with department leaders to achieve business objectives, mitigate risks and ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Support commercial, transactional, and compliance.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Business-forward in-house commercial lawyer with leadership skills.
  • Experience negotiating custom commercial deals with regulated electric utilities, retail energy providers, or other load serving entities.
  • A legal- and thought-partner for our business development leadership, with direct impact on helping them accelerate deals and win new business.

Location & Travel

  • Remote position.
  • Some domestic travel required.
Requirements
  • JD and Bar Admission: JD from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in good standing.
  • Experience: 5+ years of legal practice, including in-house experience.
