Job Description

The Cost Controller Specialist is an expert in cost analysis, cost reporting, and expense monitoring. This role is responsible for providing detailed, accurate, and timely cost information to support business decisions, ensure compliance with group reporting requirements, and proactively answer group-level inquiries. The specialist will work closely with business leaders to monitor, analyze, and optimize expenses across all departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Analysis & Reporting

  • Perform in-depth analysis of direct and indirect costs, identifying trends, variances, and root causes.
  • Prepare detailed cost reports, dashboards, and presentations tailored to group reporting standards and requirements.
  • Ensure all cost data is accurate, reconciled, and delivered on time for group consolidation and reporting cycles.
  • Respond promptly and thoroughly to all group-level cost-related questions and ad hoc request

Expense Monitoring & Collaboration

  • Closely monitor expenses in partnership with business leaders, department heads, and project managers.
  • Provide regular feedback and recommendations to business leaders on cost performance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support business units in understanding their cost structures and drivers.

Cost Control Processes

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust cost control procedures and policies.
  • Validate and challenge cost allocation methodologies to ensure fairness and transparency.
  • Lead post-project or post-period cost reviews to identify lessons learned and best practices.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and drive cost optimization initiatives in collaboration with operational teams.
  • Benchmark costs against internal and external standards to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide training and guidance to business partners on cost control best practices.

Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with internal cost control policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits related to cost control and reporting.

 

Qualifications

  • College degree in Finance, Accounting or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in cost control, cost accounting, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated expertise in cost analysis, reporting, and expense monitoring.

  • Advanced Excel and cost management software skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across functions.

  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive in identifying and solving cost-related issues.
