The Cost Accountant Manager plays a key role in ensuring accurate product costing, inventory accounting, margin analysis, and operational financial support. This position partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, FP&A, and Finance leadership to analyze production costs, maintain cost models, monitor variances, and drive meaningful insights that influence strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Product Costing & Inventory Accounting
Maintain and update standard costs in coordination with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership.
Perform inventory valuation, reconcile inventory accounts, and analyze monthly fluctuations.
Review and reconcile Work in Process (WIP), raw materials, finished goods, and scrap transactions.
Ensure the accuracy of bills of materials (BOM), routing, and overhead rates.
Support cycle counts and physical inventory audits across multiple locations and/or manufacturing partners.
Manufacturing & Variance Analysis
Analyze manufacturing variances (PPV, labor, overhead, absorption, yield, etc.) and provide insights on drivers and trends.
Partner with Operations to evaluate production efficiency, capacity utilization, and cost saving opportunities.
Prepare and communicate variance reports to leadership with meaningful commentary and recommendations.
Monitor and analyze actual vs. standard cost performance.
Financial Reporting & Close
Support month end close activities related to COGS, inventory, accruals, and journal entries.
Prepare reconciliations for inventory related accounts ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and analytical support.
Cross Functional Collaboration
Work with FP&A to support forecasting and budgeting of cost of goods sold and manufacturing expenses.
Partner with Engineering to capture cost impacts for new product introductions (NPI).
Collaborate with Supply Chain on material cost changes, supplier pricing, and inventory optimization strategies.
Process Improvement & Systems
Participate in ERP enhancements, cost model optimization, and accounting system automation.
Identify opportunities to streamline cost accounting workflows and improve reporting accuracy.
Support data integrity initiatives related to inventory transactions and cost structures.
The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
10+ years of cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience.
Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold concepts.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, or similar).
Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
Ability to work cross functionally and communicate complex information clearly.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred
CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification.
Experience in manufacturing, hardware, semiconductors, or technology environments.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts and operational KPIs.
Experience supporting multisite or global operations.
