Why Tractable?

We combine world-class AI research with real-world applications that make a difference. At Tractable, you’ll collaborate with brilliant minds, work on transformative projects, and contribute to technology that helps people when they need it most.

We build artificial intelligence that transforms how the world recovers from accidents. Our industry-leading computer vision software has helped millions of people globally by instantly assessing vehicle damage. Now, we are entering an exciting new chapter: we have recently launched our first proprietary hardware solution to complement our core AI platform.

As we expand into the physical world, our supply chain and financial operations are evolving rapidly. We are looking for a highly capable Cost Accountant to help manage the day-to-day operations of our new hardware payables and inventory.

In this role, you will be a foundational player in our hardware financial operations. You will navigate newly established workflows, bringing rigor and accuracy to our internal assembly tracking, cost of goods sold (COGS), and procurement processes as this new product line scales.

What You Will Do

  • Accounts Payable & Procurement: Process hardware-related Accounts Payable, execute PO matching and manage vendor payments and support vendor statement reconciliations.

  • Inventory Tracking & Assembly: Track and reconcile inventory movements across our internal warehouse, including the tracking of raw materials and finished goods for our in-house assembly operations. Reconcile inventory subledger to the general ledger on a recurring basis and investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies with operations.

  • Inventory Count Coordination: Partner with the hardware operations team to coordinate and audit periodic cycle counts and annual physical inventory audits, document variances and assist in reconciliation and adjustment entries.

  • COGS Management: Track, calculate, and reconcile Cost of Goods Sold, accurately accounting for component costs, freight, and standard labor/overhead application.

  • Month-End Execution: Execute the month-end inventory and AP close processes, prepare journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules and ensure timely and accurate close of inventory-related accounts

  • Variance & Master Data: Track and report purchase price variances against standard costs for review and maintain hardware master data in the ERP, including SKUs and Bills of Material.

  • Workflow Execution: Operate effectively within our newly implemented financial systems, actively bridging the gap between hardware operations and accounting. Support ongoing system and process improvements

Who You Are

  • Experienced & Hands-On: You have 3+ years of progressive cost and inventory accounting experience, specifically within a business that deals with physical products, hardware, or in-house assembly.

  • Systems Savvy: You have strong experience navigating and adapting to modern financial ERP systems. NetSuite experience is highly preferred.

  • Process-Oriented: You understand the mechanics of Bills of Material (BOM), standard costing, and how to untangle complex freight and component invoices.

  • Detail-Driven: You possess a sharp eye for accuracy, whether you are calculating landed costs or reconciling a complex vendor statement.

  • Adaptable & Resilient: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable operating in a space where workflows are newly established and continuously improving.

  • Collaborative: You are able to work cross-functionally with operations and warehouse teams

Diversity commitment

At Tractable, we are committed to building a diverse team and inclusive workplace where people’s varied backgrounds and experiences are valued and recognised.

We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and offer equal opportunities without discrimination.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
