We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in Huntington Beach, CA. This is an on-site position based in Huntington Beach, CA. We value teamwork, inclusivity, and continuous professional development, and we offer competitive benefits along with opportunities for growth.

JOB SUMMARY

The Cost Accountant will analyze and assess the financial impacts of operations and production. This role will collaborate across the business to forecast and measure performance against the plan, ensuring both accuracy and compliance. Additionally, the Cost Accountant will support various functions related to inventory analysis, work in progress, cost of sales, and other recurring reporting requirements, while ensuring alignment with the company’s goals, processes, and procedures.

  • Create analysis and reporting related to operations for materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided and their impact on costs.
  • Collect, develop, review, analyze, and update standard costs.
  • Post journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations related to inventory and work in progress.
  • Provide monthly reporting and analysis to the management team.
  • Compare and analyze margins, providing explanations for variances compared to forecast and/or plan by comparing actual versus standard.
  • Review, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports.
  • Support the forecast and planning process by providing cost analysis and recommendations for the quarterly/annual planning cycle.
  • Develop and maintain data related to KPIs for inventory and costs.
  • Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions to the management team.
  • Assess opportunities and risks.
  • Support audits by providing schedules and analysis as necessary.
  • Complete ad hoc requests as necessary.
  • File documents as required.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned or requested.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethics code.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment, adhering to company policies.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Protect the confidentiality of the company’s information and products.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, with a focus in Cost Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Cost Accounting
  • Proficiency with an ERP system
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting procedures, and cost accounting through hands-on experience in financial reporting and analysis.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to review for accuracy, recommend changes, and ensure quality control
  • Proficiency in data entry, 10-key, and word processing with a typing speed of 50+ WPM
  • Strong computational and analytical skills to ensure accuracy of information
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Strong financial analysis skills

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Ability to work independently and provide recommendations to management
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers and interface cross-functionally
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Extended or irregular hours may be required.

  • Direction is provided for assignments in terms of desired outcome (goals), timing, and budget.

Salary Range Transparency: $90,500 - $120,000 annually
