Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading supplier of building envelope solutions that effectively drive energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are looking for a COS Improvement Engineer located remotely, preferably close to one of our EPS manufacturing plants.


Job Summary

The COS Improvement Engineer is the primary Carlisle Operating System resource for continuous improvement efforts in Carlisle Units.  This individual will work closely with senior business unit leaders, plant leadership teams and local COS resources to assist with all aspects of their continuous improvement program.  This is a highly visible position and requires a broad-based knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the Carlisle businesses and the ability to effectively influence at all levels of the organization.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the overall business unit COS journey to establish a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement and the delivery of business unit financial and operations goals. Analyze current state, using tools such as gap analysis, to identify and correct opportunities relative to continuous improvement. Partner with leadership to align COS with business needs. Identify and communicate best practices throughout the organization (30% of the time).
  • Lead and/or participate in business unit Kaizen events while coaching/training Carlisle employees (35% of the time).
  • Work with manufacturing locations and office teams to increase the value realized from initiatives such as MDI, 5S, Idea System, TPM and the COS Framework. (35% of the time)
  • Work with all levels to implement the COS Framework in the business unit
  • Participation in and assisting with COS steering committees
  • Coaching and mentoring business unit leaders and employees in COS principles, tools, methods, and behaviors
  • Guidance, direction, development, training and assistance to plant COS resources and champions
  • Assisting with the identification, scoping, facilitation, and sustainment of improvement events (Kaizen) to drive business unit results
  • Coordinating COS programs and initiatives in the business unit such as Policy Deployment, Business Process Improvements, Planning and Review (P&R), Idea System, Root Cause Analysis, 5S, Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
  • Establish measurable standards for each facilitated project and compare results with regularly meetings and reports.

Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

  • Essential Full Performance Knowledge:
    • Operational understanding of Carlisle business software systems, business systems functions and how they inter-relate, lean and six sigma principles, general understanding of Carlisle products and how they are manufactured, distributed and customer requirements.
    • Proficient with all Lean and Six Sigma Tools including but not limited to Policy Deployment, Planning & Review, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, SMED, Idea Generation, Decision Making, TPM, SQDC, KPI, MDI, Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, etc.
    • Applicant must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.

    • Individual must be proficient with classroom type training as well as training at the workstation, business process site or shop-floor environment.

Travel Requirement:

  • This position will require consistent travel to other Carlisle locations. Anticipated that this will be at least 50% of the time.
