The ideal candidate is a creative, proactive, and self-motivated communications professional with the experience and judgment to operate independently in a remote environment. A strong storyteller, relationship builder, and project manager, this individual must be skilled at fostering internal and external relationships, uncovering opportunities, and earning the trust of property and corporate stakeholders. The successful candidate will possess a solid understanding of what drives media coverage and be capable of evaluating story angles, communications opportunities, and agency recommendations through both a strategic and business lens. They must be resourceful, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while driving results across a diverse hospitality portfolio.

Lead direct day-to-day support for select resorts and hotels in Pyramid’s independent collection, Benchmark Resorts & Hotels, as assigned. This includes local, regional, and national media relations, influencer/content creator relations, creative program ideation, reporting, writing PR materials as needed, and collaborating with the field marketing team and on-property teams for execution.

  • Maintain consistent and well-balanced communication with assigned hotels, becoming engaged and integrated as an active participant and valued collaborator of each property.
  • Proactively identify newsworthy stories, trends, partnerships, milestones, and thought leadership opportunities across assigned properties. Present creative PR-first concepts to create press-worthy storylines for each assigned hotel.
  • Conduct proactive media outreach and respond to reactive press requests, as needed, to drive favorable coverage of the assigned hotels.
  • Develop and/or update property press kits as needed. Ensure each assigned property is equipped with relevant materials, including fact sheets, executive bios, visual assets, etc.

  • Collaborate with the corporate director of public relations to identify and recommend best practices for reporting results and impact.
  • Coordinate media and content creator visits, partnering with property stakeholders, destination representatives, and others to ensure well-planned and smooth execution.
  • Support issues management and crisis communications efforts as needed through research, message development, and media response coordination.

Execute integrated PR campaigns to increase awareness of Benchmark Resorts & Hotels in collaboration with the corporate director of public relations, the vice president of marketing, corporate marketing manager, and Pyramid’s external PR agency partner. This includes coordinating with properties across Benchmark’s diverse portfolio and various departments across the enterprise organization.

  • Serve as a liaison between corporate stakeholders, agency partners, and participating properties to ensure campaigns are executed efficiently and consistently across the portfolio.
  • Partner with the external PR agency and corporate director of public relations to identify, develop, and advance portfolio-wide story opportunities that elevate Benchmark Resorts & Hotels.
  • Develop and edit communications materials as needed, including press releases, campaign messaging, fact sheets, FAQs, award submissions, and supporting assets for portfolio-level initiatives.
  • Monitor campaign performance and media coverage, compiling reports and insights to evaluate effectiveness and identify future opportunities.
  • Manage organization and maintenance of Benchmark Resorts & Hotels public relations resources, including reporting, media lists, asset libraries, property information, coverage trackers, editorial calendars, and campaign materials.
  • Maintain current knowledge of property updates, openings, renovations, awards, partnerships, and notable milestones to proactively identify opportunities across the collection.
  • Lead editorial-style content development for the Benchmark Resorts & Hotels blog, including story ideation, tracking writer commissions, reviewing content, and writer payments. Collaborate with the corporate marketing manager to ensure alignment with portfolio campaigns, where appropriate.
  • As needed, provide support to the corporate director of public relations for Pyramid Global Hospitality’s corporate communications program. This includes collaborating on internal reporting and building internal systems and resources to support the broader public relations function.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
