Your Role:
We are looking for a dynamic principal to join our Corporate Development team in our Innovation & Corporate Development (ICD) division. ICD’s role is to explore the frontier of emerging technologies and the ever-changing competitive landscape, cultivating new opportunities that support CSAA’s strategy and set us apart.
Reporting to the VP, Corporate Development, this role will support future growth opportunities through strategic partnerships, business development, and acquisitions. The principal will be responsible for market research, identification of potential partners and acquisition targets, due diligence, and contract and deal execution. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business strategy, investment banking and/or consulting, executive level presentations, and partner and customer-facing engagements.
Your Work:
Market research and opportunity sourcing:
Help identify industry trends and areas of competitive differentiation and growth through market research and deep understanding of articulated and unarticulated customer needs.
Identify key segments, potential targets, strategic fit, opportunity sizing and impact.
Build business case for new segments for expansion, e.g., big box retail, homebuilders, property management firms, real estate brokerages/listing sites, mortgage lenders, car dealerships, etc.
Corporate development / M&A:
Help Identify targets aligned with company strategy and One AAA priorities.
Build acquisition proposals and help manage evaluation of inbound opportunities.
Manage associated governance, including due diligence, contract execution, and executive/board approvals.
Stakeholder management and reporting:
Provide regular updates on business and corporate development segments, pipeline, and outcomes to company leadership.
Establish strong collaborative relationships across the organization, helping channel feedback/insights back to product, operations, finance, etc. to improve overall performance.
Team and culture:
Contribute to a high-performing team that delivers results while supporting an inclusive environment that values different perspectives, experiences, and ideas.
Impact:
Accountable for supporting the new corporate development function that will have significant impact on CSAA’s long-term growth strategy and risk diversification profile.
Will be the primary individual responsible for market research, identification of potential prospects, opportunity sizing, detailed business cases, due diligence, and deal execution.
The Corporate Development team is leading the ‘One-AAA’ national OEM partnerships on behalf of the three AAA insurance companies for over $1B in future premiums in the next 5-10 years. This position will help deliver on existing partnerships while identifying new growth opportunities for the company and broader AAA federation.
Required Experience, Education and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
8+ years of proven experience in investment banking, consulting, or corporate and business development, preferably with experience in a regulated industry such as insurance, banking, or healthcare required.
Demonstrated ability to work independently to perform data-driven research, synthesize a point of view, and build a compelling recommendation in a large organization.
Consistent track record of success developing strategies for entering new markets and launching/growing new businesses, with effective execution and outcomes.
Keen business acumen to identify and assess the impact of industry trends, articulate strategy, and build an execution plan.
Demonstrated ability to influence and drive enterprise impact with a record of executive-level communications.
Strong partner management skills to build relationships and maintain partnerships over time, vested in the shared success of all organizations.
Great teammate with ability to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across CSAA and with external partners; excellent interpersonal communications and presentation skills.
Self-starter with a bias for action, speed and results; comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
Travels as needed for the role, including key internal meetings and representing the company externally at industry events.

Master’s degree preferred.
Experience leading and motivating strong teams based on different talents and skill preferred.
Scholarly or other publishing records or experience in thought-leadership activities preferred.
Previous startup experience preferred.
