As a Corporate Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in sourcing, analyzing, and evaluating investment opportunities that will enable Postman to accelerate its top line. You will leverage your industry knowledge to identify emerging technologies, assess strategic alignment, and develop insights to support corporate strategy. This role requires a proactive individual who can build strong relationships with the startup and venture capital community, write clear and compelling investment memos, and contribute to the growth of the company through strategic transactions.
What You’ll Do- Sourcing and Identifying Opportunities: Proactively identify, research, and evaluate potential acquisition targets, partnerships, and investment opportunities in the API space.
- Technology Evaluation: Assess and analyze technologies and product offerings of potential targets to understand their fit within the company’s overall strategy. Provide technical insights and competitive intelligence to inform decision-making.
- Investment Memos: Prepare and present detailed investment memos that outline the strategic value, market opportunity, financial considerations, and risks of potential acquisitions or partnerships.
- Networking and Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with key players in the startup and venture capital communities, including potential target companies and industry experts.
- Market Intelligence: Conduct market research and competitive analysis to provide actionable insights and recommendations for corporate development strategy. Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the developer tools ecosystem, including trends, technologies, competitors, and key players. Experience with software development processes, tools, and platforms is highly valued.
- Sourcing & Networking: Proven ability to source and identify high-potential acquisition targets and strategic partners. Strong network within the corporate development, venture capital, and technology communities.
- Analytical & Writing Skills: Strong analytical abilities to evaluate technologies and business models. Ability to write clear, well-structured investment memos that outline strategic opportunities and risks.
- Communication & Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, external stakeholders, and potential partners. Ability to influence and drive decisions in a collaborative environment
- Self-Starter & Strategic Thinker: Highly motivated, with a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities. Ability to think critically and strategically in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in corporate development, venture capital, or a related field, with a strong focus on the software industry.
- Experience working in or with the developer tools industry.
- Familiarity with the M&A process, including due diligence, valuation, and integration.
- Experience with market and competitive analysis
The reasonably estimated base salary for this role ranges from $155,000 -$185,000 , plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
