Job Description:

Job Summary

We are looking to hire Corporate Counsel - IP Litigation with excellent communication skills and the ability to explain, clarify and simplify complex technical information. As a member of MPS’ Legal department, this person will work closely with other team members and collaborate with MPS’ internal stakeholders, engineering, product, and business groups to provide legal advice on all aspects of intellectual property litigation and administrative proceedings.

Responsibilities Include

  • Manage all aspects and phases of litigation including preliminary investigation and data collection, research, discovery, pretrial and trial.

  • Manage proceedings involving the USPTO/PTAB and ITC.

  • Advise and collaborate with technical teams and outside counsel on claim construction, validity/infringement, invalidity/non-infringement analyses.

  • Assist with filing of IPRs, PGRs, and/or EPRs.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and legal teams to develop and execute case strategy.

  • Draft various legal documents, including pleadings, petitions, motions, and briefs.

  • Perform legal research and gather case and docket information.

  • Handle all aspects of discovery and preparation of witnesses and experts for deposition.

  • Advise on patent portfolio management.

  • Coordinate with outside counsel, witnesses, and experts on various matters.

  • Manage legal spend and case budgets.

Requirements

  • J.D. from accredited law school.

  • Admission to U.S. Patent & Trademark Office is a plus.

  • Master’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering is a plus.

  • 4-6 years’ experience with a law firm and/or corporation.

  • Extensive involvement in litigating intellectual property matters.

  • Ability to shift priorities and handle multiple, competing tasks.

  • Strong organization, problem solving, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Passion for personal accountability and setting high standards is essential for success.

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The base salary range for this position in Washington is $130,000 - $180,000. The base salary range for this position in California is $140,000 - $200,000.
