Position: Corporate Controller (Defense Contracting Exp Required) - San Diego, CA or Washington, DC 

The Corporate Controller is a key financial leader responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance with federal regulations, including DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) and FAR/DFARSrequirements. This role requires extensive experience in defense contractingand proficiency with Unanet ERP. The ideal candidate will ensure financial integrity, drive operational efficiency, and support strategic growth initiatives.

How you will Make an Impact:Financial Management & Compliance:
  • Oversee all aspects of government cost accounting, ensuring compliance with DCAA, FAR, and DFARS regulations.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures to support regulatory compliance and financial accuracy.
  • Prepare and submit PBR (Provisional Billing Rates) and ICE (Incurred Cost Electronically) submissions, provisional billing rates (PBR), indirect rate calculations, and other required government reports.
  • Lead DCAA audits, working closely with auditors to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
Accounting & Reporting:
  • Direct all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and CAS.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to executives and stakeholders.
  • Manage job cost accounting and indirect rate structures, ensuring alignment with government contract requirements.
ERP & Systems Oversight:
  • Serve as the Unanet ERP expert, optimizing system capabilities for financial reporting, job costing, and contract management.
  • Improve automation, data integrity, and financial analytics using Unanet and other financial tools.
  • Lead system upgrades, integrations, and training for finance and accounting teams.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow Management:
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, indirect cost rate structures, and rolling forecasts.
  • Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to support executive decision-making.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risks.
Leadership & Team Development:
  • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with executives and department heads to align financial goals with corporate strategy.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, and operational excellence.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Strong expertise in government cost accounting, job cost tracking, and contract compliance.
  • Ability to manage audits, ICE submissions, incurred cost reporting, and indirect rate structures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and data analysis tools.

Relevant Skills & Experience:
  • 10+ years of accounting/finance experience in defense contracting.
  • Extensive knowledge of DCAA compliance, FAR/DFARS, and CAS.
  • Proven track record in government contract accounting, indirect rate development, and cost proposal support.
  • Hands-on experience with Unanet ERP and other financial systems.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field - Master's preferred.
