About XBOW

At XBOW, we’re redefining the future of cybersecurity by building the world's first autonomous pentester, powered by AI. Today, the gold standard for securing software systems is human pentesters, but with the rise of artificial intelligence, we’re stepping up to scale offensive security to meet the ever-growing demand.

AI is transforming the landscape of both cybersecurity and cyberattacks. While millions of people without security expertise are creating software, bad actors are using AI to launch more effective attacks. XBOW fights back with AI-driven superpowers, enabling security teams to stay one step ahead.

Backed by Sequoia Capital and Altimeter, and a team that includes the creators of GitHub Copilot and GitHub Advanced Security, XBOW is not just keeping up with the times—we’re shaping the future of cybersecurity. Our mission is simple: to defeat the bad actors before they strike, using AI to revolutionize how we approach offensive security.

We’re building something that must be built, and we’re the team to do it. Join us in shaping the next frontier of autonomous security.

Your Role

As Director of Corporate Communications at XBOW, you will own and drive the narrative that positions us as the defining force in autonomous offensive cybersecurity. You will shape how the world understands our mission, technology, and impact — from media and analyst relations to executive thought leadership and internal communications. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role at a pivotal moment in our growth.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy that amplifies XBOW's brand, mission, and market leadership across all channels

  • Own media relations end-to-end, building and nurturing relationships with top-tier technology, security, and business press to secure consistent, high-quality coverage

  • Develop and execute a complete analyst relationships strategy that will position XBOW as the category leader in autonomous offensive security. Orchestrate and run analyst briefings, inquiries to stay top of mind of relevant analysts

  • Partner closely with the CEO and executive team to develop compelling thought leadership content, including bylines, speaking submissions, and public narratives

  • Lead crisis communications planning and response, ensuring XBOW communicates with clarity, credibility, and speed when it matters most

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Sales to align external messaging with product launches, funding milestones, and key company moments

  • Establish and track communications KPIs, reporting on share of voice, media sentiment, analyst coverage, and brand awareness to inform ongoing strategy

Who You Are
  • 12+ years of corporate B2B SaaS communications experience, with a proven track record in a fast-paced technology or cybersecurity company or agency

  • 5+ years of experience in communications catering to developers and/or application security professionals and CISOs.

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, AI, or deep-tech sectors with an understanding of the threat landscape and security buyer mindset

  • A skilled storyteller who can translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences including press, analysts, customers, and investors

  • Established relationships with journalists and editors across major technology and business publications, with a history of securing meaningful media placements

  • Experienced in executive communications and comfortable working directly with senior leadership to shape and refine their public voice

  • Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously in a startup environment

  • Calm under pressure with demonstrated experience managing sensitive communications situations and reputational issues with sound judgment

  • Advanced daily generative AI user who creates, edits and optimizes communications while maintaining the human touch and a high bar for taste

Bonus If You Have
  • Existing relationships with security-focused media outlets, industry analysts such as Gartner or Forrester, and relevant conference organizers

  • Experience supporting communications around venture funding rounds, acquisitions, or other high-stakes corporate milestones

  • Familiarity with AI-powered communications tools and a genuine enthusiasm for integrating emerging technology into your workflow

  • Familiarity with bug bounty programs, penetration testing and embedding security into developer workflows

What We Offer
  • Compensation & Equity: Competitive salary, clear performance-based incentives, and equity package, making you an integral part of XBOW’s growth story.

  • Career Growth: Significant opportunities to progress within the sales organization and shape your career trajectory as we scale.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
