The Copy Manager, Automotive Advertising oversees development of outside the box marketing campaigns that meet and exceed our client needs by maximizing target audience reach. This role includes the leadership and oversight of Creative Strategists and Creative Architects. The position includes recruiting, training, retaining, scheduling, and management of the team.

The Copy Manager  communicates with department leadership and key stakeholders to coordinate adequate resources for completion of daily work assignments and special projects.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads and directs the Copy team to ensure accurate and timely completion of daily deliverables, in addition to identifying and solving process holes
  • Ensures the Copy department’s deliverables stay within budget, meet or surpass agency and client quality standards
  • Ensures the Copy department and key stakeholders have a keen understanding of our clients’ brand voice and advertising needs to execute and evolve successful marketing campaigns
  • Leads the Copy team to ensure translation approach effectively captures our clients’ brand voice in all marketing
  • Writes clear and concise advertising copy across a multitude of platforms and channels
  • Stays current on new advertising initiatives and designs in-depth trainings to successfully launch new Copy products and services
  • Develops documentation and tools to further evolve, elevate and scale the Copy team’s operations
  • Oversees accuracy and maintenance of all Copy training docs to ensure they are up to date as process/products change and publish to designated portal
  • Contributes to overall Creative team vision, roadmaps, ideation, and creative strategy.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders, experienced designers, videographers, and other creatives to execute new advertising campaigns from start to finish
  • Provides upper management monthly updates on status of Copy team (employee needs/concerns and action plans, training/initiatives, KPI progress, propose merit increase, propose promotion schedule/plan)
  • Checks on active use of PTO throughout the year by all Copy team associates and ensures no one goes over at year end.
  • Ensure all invoices and expenses are submitted to respective department in a timely manner on a monthly basis.

Position Requirements:

  • Associates degree in related field (marketing, film, journalism, communications, business administration, etc) or equivalent work experience. Bachelors or Master’s a plus.
  • 8+ years as a copywriter, copy and/or editorial lead at an advertising agency creating marketing programs/materials, honing brand voice across multiple platforms and channels
  • 3+ years of experience working in automotive advertising
  • 5+ years of experience leading a copy team
  • Excellent leadership skills, team building skills, communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal soft skills (setting/managing expectations, conflict resolution, active listening, etc)
  • Must be proficient with: Mac OS Operating system, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to determine and execute multichannel copy strategies
  • Experience managing and writing to a brand voice
  • Competitive knowledge of best-in-class copy practices
