rhode is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Product Development Coordinator to support the Product Development team. This role involves managing and maintaining documentation, samples, and tracking systems while assisting with the execution of new product launches, reformulations, and ongoing projects. The ideal candidate is resourceful, proactive, and has a strong understanding of beauty trends and innovations shaping the industry.

What You'll Do

  • Track, organize, and manage all development-related samples, including submissions, benchmarks, standards, competitive samples, and retains.
  • Route product submissions for internal evaluation, gather feedback from stakeholders, and communicate actionable insights to the team.
  • Conduct initial visual and organizational review of batch submissions prior to internal evaluation, noting obvious inconsistencies, labeling issues, or deviations from the brief.
  • Compile and send consolidated PD feedback to contract manufacturers following internal sample reviews and Supervisor alignment.
  • Maintain a log of returned feedback and revision requests sent to contract manufacturers to ensure clear record keeping of submission history.
  • Support ingredient and market research, competitor product analysis, and trends to inform product strategy.
  • Document and track action items during internal and external meetings, ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain a centralized tracker of all formula submissions, benchmarks, and standards to ensure clear visibility of development progress.
  • Attend weekly CM calls and product development meetings, as needed.
  • Maintain organized storage of all product submissions, samples, and CM capabilities, ensuring proper labeling and accessibility.
  • Manage and oversee all sample requests for the marketing team and other team members, ensuring efficient tracking, organization, and timely distribution of samples.
  • Work closely with contract manufacturers to ensure completion of testing, submission samples, test bulk requests and other product-related requirements.
  • Support offsite panel product testing by collecting samples, capturing photos, organizing images, and creating presentation decks.
  • Assist the team in managing and identifying shade indicators for both primary and secondary packaging.
  • Take on additional tasks and projects as assigned to meet evolving team needs.
  • Conduct routine audits of all project bins and sample storage areas to ensure materials are properly labeled, organized, and aligned with active projects.
  • Lead organization and restructuring of the PD Color sample library, including standardized labeling systems and storage protocols.
  • Maintain a physical and digital archive of benchmarks, launched FG products, competitive products, and shade references for the PD Color team.
  • Pull color trend references, competitor shade launches, and potential shade extension opportunities to support PD Color innovation discussions.
  • Assist with coordinating PD team attendance at trade shows, including organizing vendor meeting schedules and tracking post-show samples received.
  • Assist in preparing submission comparison range boards, swatch charts, B&A’s or visual references used during internal shade and formula evaluations.
  • Support organization of benchmarking sessions by preparing competitive samples, shade references, and evaluation materials for the PD Color team.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 1-2 year of experience in product development within the beauty industry. Color experience is a plus.
  • Passionate about the beauty industry and market trends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Additional digital platform proficiency such as Slack, Box, Zoom is a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines, multi-task, adapt to shifting priorities, and maintain a sense of urgency.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize and present complex information clearly.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Flexible, proactive, and eager to take on new challenges

Other Details for Consideration

  • Location: Must be based in Los Angeles, CA, with reliable transportation for sample deliveries and drop-offs.
  • Office Requirement: Must be able to come into the office 5 days a week.
  • Compensation: $26 per hour (+ Bonus & Equity)

The base salary range for this role is listed above. 
 
Total compensation includes base salary, annual company-based performance bonus, and equity. Under e.l.f.’s annual bonus program, employees are eligible to earn up to 200% of their target bonus when company performance exceeds defined goals. In addition, e.l.f. provides a variety of other benefits to employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a retirement savings plan, gender neutral parental leave, and unlimited paid time off. The amount of total compensation (including base salary) offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including geographic location, experience, specific skills, and qualifications.
