The KDM department is the last stop in the Post-Production process.  We often act as a catch all to help identify and triple check other departments work.  We are often the first point of contact when problems arise at theatres.  The employee will need to keep a level head while sometimes dealing with upset or agitated clients.  The job requires one to think critically to solve problems in a timely fashion.  The workflow can often change without any warning and the KDM team must adapt to these changes as quickly as possible.  The job is very black and white, meaning that the KDM either is right or wrong, there is no in-between. Because of this, the job requires acute attention to detail.

  • Compiles KDM update emails with daily progress of work to the KDM Team.
  • Confers with team members to develop new methods to expedite production and maintain quality control
  • Other duties may be assigned

What You'll Need:

  • Proactive thinker – what will be required to complete this job and deliver to the client in a timely manner?  Be prepared to answer those questions – before they are asked of you
  • Manage disparate information from a variety of sources and consolidate/conform/prioritize before acting
  • The ability to grasp the big picture of what is required as well as the very fine details of what is needed to get there and how
  • Excellent communicator with critical thinking skills
  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel in a corporate environment is a plus
  • Any additional foreign language familiarity is beneficial to interact with clients globally
  • An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Entertainment Industry Distribution and/or Postproduction experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize an ever-changing workflow
  • Detail-oriented, excellent record-keeping and database management skills required
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • A working understanding of current digital cinema production workflow and terminology is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to double and triple check their and their peers work and use good judgment
  • Great team player with the ability to involve others in making critical decisions
  • The Candidate must be self-sufficient and have good time management
  • Because this is a swing shift, the candidate must be able to work in less-social environment and have the ability to take initiative to continue the workflow of production with little to no guidance, if necessary
  • The Candidate must be able to work independently and understand that even though a manager may not be present, work is expected during their entire shift

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
