Job Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:

The Controller is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the organization's financial records and reporting, including oversight of the General Ledger and Fixed Asset systems. This position provides leadership and oversight for the accounting, revenue audit, count team, payroll, and accounts payable functions, and partners with Purchasing and Inventory Control to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective internal controls. The Controller is also responsible for ensuring that Gaming and Non‑Gaming audits are complete and accurate and that any discrepancies are reported in accordance with State Regulations, North Fork Mono Casino & Resort's Internal Control System, and departmental procedures.

This role works closely with the VP of Finance, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Compliance, and Internal Audit to support regulatory compliance, financial analysis, and decision‑making. Perform responsibilities in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures. This position will report directly to the VP of Finance.

 

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting North Fork Mono Casino's culture and always demonstrating exemplary Service Standards.
  • Maintain the General Ledger and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.
  • Close the books on a monthly basis and perform account analysis.
  • Provide information and reports to management in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Ensures appropriate segregation of duties and adherence to internal controls in coordination with Compliance and Internal Audit.
  • Responsible for producing management reports, financial statements and other financial information.
  • Review financial and statistical reports and balance sheets reconciliation ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Provide financial oversight and coordination with Purchasing and Inventory Control to support accurate reporting, reconciliation, and control compliance.
  • Review and approve monthly journal entries.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with the VP of Finance.
  • Lead continuous improvement of accounting processes, systems, and internal controls.
  • Partner with the VP of Finance and CFO on financial analysis, variance explanations, and decision support.
  • Hire, train, and supervise management staff and direct reports in the accounting, count team, revenue audit, payroll, and accounts payable areas.
  • Provide information and reports to the VP of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all gaming regulations (NIGC) and minimum internal control standards (MICS).
  • Responsible for ensuring that staff payroll is completed, reviewed, and approved prior to payroll deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting/financial management experience required; casino/gaming industry experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
  • Full time on site in Madera, CA.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs. with or without assistance.
Work Conditions:
Team Members will be in constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests. Work includes the maintenance and care of assigned work area. Work is typically performed in an office environment. However, work may be in an area, which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain secondhand smoke. Work may be performed in a confined area. Work may be scheduled at various hours, including working overtime, and during evening, weekends, and holidays. Work may entail trained chemical usage. Work is in a high volume, fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Pay Range
