What You’ll Do

Financial Management

Financial Reporting & Accuracy

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve reporting to make financial data more actionable and accessible.

Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor and manage cash flow to support our continued growth while maintaining our break-even status.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting in a high-growth SaaS environment, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.

Payroll and Benefits Administration

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing and benefits administration with accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, tax requirements, and internal controls.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial operations as we scale.
  • Challenge existing workflows, test improvements, learn from results, and iterate quickly.
  • Take action when something isn’t working—own the problem and fix it.

Compliance and Audit Readiness

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other relevant financial regulations.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of controller or senior accounting experience in a SaaS company
  • SaaS Expertise: Strong understanding of SaaS business models, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and key SaaS metrics
  • Growth Mindset: Experience managing finances in high-growth environments (100%+ annual growth preferred)
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Excel/Google Sheets
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred
  • Payroll & Benefits: Proven experience managing payroll and employee benefits administration
  • Attention to Detail: You deliver results by getting the details right, every time
  • Leadership Mentality: Demonstrated desire and ability to grow into broader financial and strategic leadership
  • Communication: Clear, honest, and respectful communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Remote Readiness: Proven ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with HRIS, payroll, and billing platforms (TriNet, Gusto, Bill, Expensify, Stripe, or similar)
  • Knowledge of equity compensation and cap table management (Carta)
  • Experience preparing for and managing through fundraising events
  • Ability to build financial systems that support long-term scale

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and equity package
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible schedule and fully remote work environment
  • Professional development opportunities

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
