Opportunity
As Controller, you’ll be the operational and strategic lead for all things accounting at Airbyte. You’ll own the close process, build for audit readiness, and design scalable systems and workflows that grow with the business.
We currently work with an outsourced accounting firm. You’ll have full autonomy to shape the future org — whether that means scaling external support, bringing functions in-house, or building a hybrid model. This role reports to the VP of Finance (who reports to the CEO) and partners closely with RevOps, Legal, and other teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead the accounting function, including GL, AP/AR, revenue (PLG + enterprise, consolidations, and compliance
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and US GAAP compliance
- Prepare for and manage external audits, including documentation, technical memos, and internal controls
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting systems and workflows to support scale and reduce manual work
- Guide technical accounting policies and decisions, including revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Build and maintain cross-functional processes that ensure accounting accuracy across business systems
- Hire, retain, and mentor an accounting team over time, scaling resourcing as the business grows
- Support entity structuring and international accounting processes as we expand globally
What You'll Need
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time as an Assistant Controller or higher at an audited company
- Big 4 audit background
- CPA certification
- Strong systems instincts — you’ve evaluated, implemented, or redesigned accounting workflows and tools
- Experience leading or preparing for external audits in a fast-scaling environment
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting, especially revenue
- Operational mindset: you’re pragmatic, solution-oriented, and know when to build vs. buy
- Clear communicator with a bias for action and ownership

- Experience with PLG or hybrid SaaS revenue models
- Experience designing & rolling out new AR & AP workflows
- AI-curious: you explored how AI could transform accounting
- Experience working with international entities

- $211,000-$250,000 + a generous equity package, and benefits for US Market.
