The Opportunity (About the Role / About You):

We are seeking a seasoned and meticulous Controller to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping and managing our financial infrastructure and strategy as we scale our global operations and continue to pioneer the future of decentralized AI. This is more than a traditional controllership; it is an opportunity to build and refine financial systems at the cutting edge of the Web3 and AI industries, where adaptability and foresight are paramount.

You are adept at navigating complex international accounting standards, specifically US GAAP and IFRS, and you thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments. You understand the Web3 landscape, particularly the intricacies of cryptocurrency accounting, and you are energized by the challenge of applying established financial principles to novel digital assets and transactions. You will be responsible for the integrity of our financial operations, ensuring robust controls, accurate and timely reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to support our ambitious growth. Your work will directly contribute to our overarching mission: to make AI a public good.

What You’ll Accomplish (Responsibilities):

• Oversee global financial accounting operations, including general ledger integrity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, complex revenue recognition (including token-related revenue), and payroll functions.

• Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, adhering strictly to both US GAAP and IFRS. This includes managing reconciliations and addressing the complexities of dual reporting or conversion where necessary.

• Develop, implement, and rigorously maintain robust internal controls, financial policies, and procedures to safeguard assets, ensure data integrity, and maintain compliance in a rapidly evolving Web3 environment.

• Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements and detailed management reports, providing insightful financial analysis, variance explanations, and strategic commentary to senior leadership.

• Manage cryptocurrency accounting. This includes the valuation of digital assets, accounting for income from token sales and transactions, managing expenses paid in cryptocurrency, and ensuring correct representation of digital assets/liabilities on the balance sheet, in line with emerging best practices and standards.

• Coordinate and manage external audit processes, serving as the primary liaison with audit firms and ensuring the timely completion of annual audits and any ad-hoc reviews.

• Oversee global tax compliance and reporting, working closely with external tax advisors to navigate international tax laws, corporate income tax, and the specific taxation challenges related to digital assets and decentralized operations.

• Provide comprehensive financial analysis, robust budgeting, and accurate forecasting to support senior management in strategic decision-making and resource allocation.

• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, legal, and other departments to understand the financial implications of new initiatives, product developments, and strategic partnerships, ensuring financial considerations are integrated into operational planning.

What You Bring (Requirements):

• Essential Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of progressive experience serving as a Financial Controller or in a similar accounting leadership capacity.

• Deep expertise in both US GAAP and IFRS. This includes experience with complex revenue recognition principles, multi-entity consolidations, and accounting for sophisticated financial instruments. Proficiency in these standards is a critical requirement for navigating our global operations.

• Hands-on experience in the accounting treatment of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets. This must include direct experience handling crypto as income and expenses, accounting for crypto assets and liabilities on the balance sheet, valuation methodologies for digital assets, and familiarity with blockchain analytics tools and crypto sub-ledgers.

• Fluency in English, including exceptional written and verbal communication skills and strong presentation abilities.

• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and meticulous organizational skills, with an unwavering attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to thrive and lead in a fast-paced, highly dynamic, and self-directed work environment, effectively managing multiple critical priorities and adapting to rapid changes inherent in the tech and Web3 space.

• Advanced proficiency with modern accounting software and ERP systems (experience with systems common in tech/global entities is preferred), alongside strong financial modeling and data analysis capabilities using tools such as Excel and Business Intelligence (BI) platforms.

  Nice to Haves (What you might bring):

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

• Professional certification as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).

• Prior audit experience with a Tier 1 (Big 4) or Tier 2 audit firm.

• Fluency in Mandarin
